I've been lurking these forums for a good long while without writing anything... Up until today. So that pretty much calls for an introduction if anything
I'm a 21 years old guy from the southern parts of Sweden, much closer to Copenhagen than Stockholm. I've been obsessed with all kinds of music for as long as I can remember, but this sound has really got a hold of me.
My relation to dubstep started somewhere around 2006/2007. My humble collection of vinyl contained everything from Black Flag to Miles Davis. I mostly listened to bands like Dinosaur Jr. and the Melvins, where the latter led me on to this whole fixation with bass. A friend led me on to classic dub records with Tubby, Lee Perry and from that i found my favorite producer: Scientist.
As I looked for that deeper bass sound i eventually stumbled over jungle and dubstep with the sounds of Burial and the Skull Disco catalogue as my first discoveries. From there on I've mainly enjoyed the Digital Mystikz (mostly Mala) and right now I'm expecting great things from Phaeleh. Everything with a flavor of soul music and funk is interesting to me.
I'm a novice producer and Dj and I'm sure I'll find a lot of inspiration on here.
Hi everyone!
Been producing dubstep stuff since end of last year but only finally got round to doing something with it in the last week.
So just a quick hello to you all.

Easy guys, I'm from Leeds but live most of the year in Nottingham.
It's pretty scary really, i hate 'introduce myself' threads usually, but decided to make an account tonight after browsing this forum for quite a while, read "mikro's" post up there and like 80% of his (italic) applies to me, so i'll just leave it at that.
Bit of an old codger here, been djing for 20 odd years many stylees.
Used to run a record shop in london`s soho during the 9t`s, but now based out in northern japan.
As i`ve been into reggae/dub/digidub for years, its this style that has drawn in me into that style of the DS..

Drum & bass is my passion( renegade hardware, old outbreak, cylon, offkey, ben sage,spl,etc..) kinda just came around to dubstep with producers like excision, droid sector, noiz, kryptic minds, and generally darker type of music.
Recently heard Skream and was like that was pretty ill, then dug for more and listened to some more Skream plus Benga and Digital Mystikz. It was around this time I became obsessed and realized Dubstep is where it is at. Now I can't stop listening to it and am trying to find as much Dubstep as I can. So, I thought this would be a good place to help me on my way.
Hi all, from San Diego CA. Been DJing for about 4 years now & have my own online radio show every Friday night. I've recently had my mind blown by dubstep. Caught my first show a few months ago and been hooked ever since.
From the Netherlands. Been listening to about every kind of dance music for some time. Dubstep passed by now and then. Digital Mystikz, Loefah, Mundo, Skream, Benga. But haven't really dug deep in to it. This should be the right place to do so
Like the styles of fellow dutchman Martyn a lot also, love that Great Lengths album. And some Boxcutter and Flying Lotus. Nice to hear some different drumtracks.
I've been involved in music since 1998. At 17 I started a punk covers band which matured into an original Grunge trio and for the last 6 years i've been the front man for a ska/punk septet, releasing several ep's and an album.. All the while I have been a big fan of D'n'B. 5 or so years ago I started tracking live instruments and vocals at home but, partly due to the ubiquity and therefore dilution of such music, I increasingly became less excited about it all, until I found dubstep; a genre which has restored my faith in music entirely. I'm now just getting into the production of dubtsep and, although I think I have good ideas, I'm well aware of my shortcomings as a new producer. I understand what sounds good and now I need to find out why and how. A friend pointed me towards this forum in hope of helping me with just that. I know my way around Reason and Nuendo and have been using both for some time. My hope now is to refine and hone my skills and give something worthy back to the world of dubstep - the music that keeps me smiling! Thanks for having me!
