Buy music because you like it and not because its KOOL. I used to go through hundreds of tracks and buy the 1's i liked reguardless of who it was produced by.
Of course, owning the hot track is essential..if you like it.
I dont usually get involved to deep on this forum but as im seeing more and more of these threads i thought it needed to be said.
In order to keep this scene healthy we need to support the music.
I dont say this to be rude and hope it dont come across that way.
Theres so much good music in this scene that it all needs to be checked.
Enjoy listening.

good thread, i agree.
Ive been gathering music for over 15 years now and I try not to get sucked into a, got that tune mentality,
Sometimes i find myself buying tunes because i've got all the others on that label, or by that person......
I think looking back, while im proud of how comprehensive it is, maybe it has suffered musically.
Buy tunes coz you love em init

yess mate! its funny, when we first started playin we always got people askin where we got our tunes from and we'd be shocked like, errrm the shops!!! I think too many people will go for wots recommended other than really takin time to listen to all the possibilities and end up missin out on somethin that they could be really feelin. Diggin in the crates is what its all about still and you definitely gotta go for personal choice as this is what moves thing forward and breeds new life into music.
It keeps things interesting if youre experimental and even if no one seems to get wot your doin at first, as long as you believe in it run with it. At least youre bein true and who's to say those same people wont be runnin hard to catch up with you when they finally do get it? think differently innit

If you own turntables
and you aren't listening to every beat possible that's coming out, is out, or is an established classic
then you're cheating yourself.
How will you ever find your taste?
Just looking at Chemical once a day, every day has shown me not only a broad swath of sounds
but how far an artists ability can span.
There's a lot of fun stuff going on all the time in this kind of music
beyond what people gab about.
And who has time to care about other people's tastes anyway?

so what if you live in a country like Dubai ... where there are NO record shops... music arrives here very late if ever ... but you are into dubstep and other genres of music that are considered "underground"
it just so happens that I buy lots of music no matter what kind it is but its mostly all digital format ... like i said i dont have the opportunity to buy records ... does that make me 'not cool' or do I loose 'credibility' and 'style' because im forced to buy online ?
I know im a n00b on this forum and i'll admit im a n00b when it comes to dubstep but im into it enough to have sought out this forum and joined. im into it enough that its made me want to learn more and more about music production ... im into it enough that all I want to do is leave work and go make a bassline that will shatter my windows or at least move some of the sand dunes i can see across the way from my house.
while I'm at it ... greetings to all dubheads and love to all. I'll end my essay here... for now.

the Random Trio post is general thoughts
your point is a particular one
so there is a difference

general thoughts still have value on the topic

noted and agreed. Im just making a point of my own ... now while I'm not accusing anyone at all; being a 'vinyl izan' is no better than being the person who seeks out only what is 'cool'. The people who only buy vinyl hopefully do so because they seem to only find music they like on vinyl exclusively (seemingly impossible) and not because they believe that it adds credibility or style. Don't get me wrong there's something so simply awesome about playing a record rather than clicking play on your computer but either way the important part is to stick true to your ears and let them do the talking.BunZer0 wrote:
