OK, I admit posting the same message on several forums I use. Reason being I don't see the point in editing what I wanted to say 10-15 times. If that's seen as spamming, fair play and I apologize. Also there was something wrong with Cov Ops forum last night that's why my post appeared there thrice.
I posted this message and mix here because I thought that if anywhere dubstep forum is the place where it could spark an interesting discussion about music seeing as Source Direct tracks were quoted alongside early jungle as Burial's inspiration in terms of creating this dense dark atmosphere in his tunes. Also Amit/Tronik is being perceived as a dubstep asrtist by some listeners.
Guess I was wrong. Whatever.
Peace+Out.
Missing link between Drum'n'Bass and Dubstep.

no, you admit signing up here for the sole purpose of spamming your non-dubstep mix.IZM wrote:OK, I admit posting the same message on several forums I use.

yeah, 170+bpm clownstep sure sounds like dubstep to me.IZM wrote:18 – PENDULUM / VAULT / 31 RECORDS [DETAIL]
Think "Sensi Crisis" by Smokin Joe had the dub styles years ago and the early jungle's almost the same speed as modern dubstep (that tune's probably only 5-10 bpm difference).
I can actually hear a similarity with some of the harder, techy stuff with dnb, but that's probably down to some dnb producers jumping ship and bringing the same techniques to the basslines - Vex'd being a good example (although some will, yawwnn...doubtless say that it's not dubstep).
And yeah, Photek and Source Direct were big influences on Burial, although I don't really hear it in his music. Both of those two had quite inhumane sounds (I know Photek did a few warmer, emotional tunes but a lot of his earlier stuff reminds me more of martial arts moves put to music) and weren't as organic as Burial's stuff. Quite like these artists but don't really think they're on the same tip.
I don't think that dnb's been of any interest to me since about 98, really. Saw Andy C the other year and was utterly bored by the whole set - just maxed out, overproduced, uninspiring soulless toss. Heard a few of the more choppage tunes and thought they were pretty good, but most of it just bores the shit out of me.
Quite like Amit though
