Off to the USA - where do I find good Dubstep in San Fran?

Post by mattjones » Fri Jul 31, 2009 7:22 pm

Hi everyone,

Massive dubstep fan from London here. Basically, I bought a Cadillac from eBay when I was drunk. Instead of sending an apologetic email to the seller explaining the circumstances, a group of friends and I got drunk again and we bought some plane tickets.

The plan is to drive across the States in the 'Lac and try and soak up us much music, mischief and other things that begin with M as possible.

We're scooping up the car on August 24 and driving it from its current location in Nowheresville, Ohio, to San Francisco over the course of two weeks.

Rumour has it that there's some pretty good dubstep nights on the west coast, and this is where we're hoping to spend at least five days of our time. Could someone give me some unbiased advice? I'd love to check out the American scene but, sadly, I'm pretty clueless about cool stuff across the pond. I reckon we'll be there during the first weekend of September.

Any advice greatly appreciated. And have a pic of my steed. My pimp hand's strong:

you just made my day.

first, check the events forums.

second, I recommend you plan out your route and check out the scenes in Chicago, Kansas City, Denver, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Reno (Burning Man) & Los Angeles on your way to the the Bay.

third, I really hope you've thought this through

good luck bruv.

In Sf, you don't find the dubstep, the dubstep finds you.

Superb. Cheers for the tips.

Isn't Burning Man a festival thing, though?

dubstep sanfran

Post by dubaholic_87 » Sun Aug 02, 2009 12:41 pm

Hey ppl im doing a dissertation about dubstep forum as an example of how people communicate, talk about music scenes, relate it to "offline" experiences.

would anyone from san-fran, who's into dubstep and uses this forum to find out about whats going on there be willing to do a questionnaire, i'd really appreciate and be interested to find out about US dubstep scene, need your help to get that, im from the UK so dont know much.

your responses would be kept anonymous, if anyone would like to take part pm me ur email and ill send u the questionnaire (its a word document file)

peace :)
