Post by gonzales246 » Sat Aug 01, 2009 12:03 pm

what i dont get is, there are people who have had it and are now better. why cant we make a vaccine against it now then?
it all smacks of something underhand and shady. biggest recession/depression since the 20's just so happens to be the same time that a pandemic is announced, shortly after what constitutes a pandemic is downgraded hmmmm

You can carry the virus without being sick (incubation period I think the name is).
So there is a chance you now have the swine flu virus in your bloodstream but you'll only be sick in a few days.
And in that time you can spread it.

But worrying about it at this moment is a bit dull, if you get it you're only sick for a week.
Doesn't put me off going to raves.

They started with the vaccine the day after the first infection was spotted.
Sometimes some viruses aren't easy to make a vaccine for (example: HIV).
They constantly mutate so chances are they find a vaccine and a few months later it doesn't work anymore.

But don't lose trust in modern science :D

i trust the science
what i dont trust is the fact they changed the definition of a pandemic to now only mean infection, rather than deaths.

According to what I've read (if I remember it right) is that swine flu doesn't cause more deaths than a normal flu.
Some people just made a big deal out of it.

yeh its essentially the fact that NO ONE has immunity, so like if it comes to your workplace your probs 95% gonna get it, as you have no anti bodies for it. whereas with normal flu we all have various defenses we have built up over the years. so yes its a worry for the at risk like babies, old folk, the already ill and infirm (just like normal flu is anyway). but for most people its just the flu with a piggy name.
(thats at least how i understand it)

why a pandemic should be issued is what i dont like, it scares everyone for no reason i can see other than for the govt to look all protective over its peeps, and when that comes just after they have plunged us into all this economical shit i question whats really happening here.

the flu seems easier than the anti-flu medicine, i'd rather go to parties than to the doctor on this one
More than half of children taking Tamiflu suffer side effects such as nausea, insomnia and nightmares, according to new research.

Tamiflu has been around for long and children are more sensitive to tamiflu.
Also it shouldn't be given to people when they don't have it :|

details only doctors should care about, most of the people should be able to trust kids will be better after seeing the doctor or following his advice.
but apparently it doesn't happen

lol, people are still talking about this? Kid got it in my town, he stayed in bed for two weeks and he's fine now. No house by house, town by town infection frenzy chock full of deaths.

I've had swine flu. It's not great. Tamiflu doesn't just delay it by four hours, I was well into the deep end of the symptoms, haven't finished the cycle yet and I feel fine. Until I started taking it I felt like death tho. The symptoms literally sprung up out of nowhere in the middle of the day when I was at work. I just feel sorry for people who start feeling a bit dodgy whilst they're fucked on a night out.

not really bothered, had pretty bad flu a couple of years ago so I know what to expect. Not nice but its not like it'll kill you! media hype has blown everything WAY out of proportion.

As a result everytime anyone feels slightly ill it MUST be swine flu!

its just the flu. the 'normal' flu kills more people, don't worry about it, its sensationalist bullshit designed to control your mind through terror, i.e terrorism.

seriously, its just the government doing their thing, they always have and always will create frenzy's to confuse/control the masses and thus extract cold hard cash (monies bruvs, thats what its all always about).

just ignore them and they'll go away and eventually move onto the next scaremongering fad, like swarms of killer ducks or something.

governments and mass media eh, 'oood 'av 'em!?!
