decent, cheapish limiter?
am starting to tire of Logic's Adaptive Limiter - can anyone recommend a decent, single band limiter that won't break the bank?

generally my drum buss, and possibly a bit of light limiting to get things to a club-playable level.
i dunno, maybe i'm just being jealous - i was always fine with it until a mate of mine got the Sonnox Limiter, and having used that for the last fortnight, I can't push the adaptive limiter half as hard, and it just doesn't sound as nice!
so basically i want something that sounds as good as the sonnox, but for about half the price
i would get a Massey L2007 if only he had ported them to AU

For cheap hardware, the art vla is surprisingly nice at about 300 bucks.
Try limiting a bit at the group level (snares, kicks, etc), then again at the bus-- see how that trats ya.
About the only thing I really like vwarmer for is getting the drum buss hyped. Knee @ 20 prcent or so always does it-- depends on how hot things are coming into it tho

i tried out ozone and psp vintage warmer and both of them amazed me with how amazing they sounded... then I came back to what I'd been making a few hours later and everything sounded like it had been hammered to fuck and was just pretty rubbish basically.
I've gone back to using logic's ad limiter, it has less knobs to twiddle and it won't make you think WOW VOLUME TO 11!, but it does the job and it stops me getting carried away.
ad limiter is fine for drum busses where required, provided you don't overdo it, but leave the full mix limiting to the pros imo, save your money and pay for mastering!

That's a dam good limiter i've tried the psp xenon and the sony oxford limiter and this one sounds better imho. Also sounds pretty good compared to the uad precision limiter maybe even better

and i'm just starting to feel that way about using it on my drum buss, too. i've been using it for 18 months now but over the last 2 or 3 i've started feeling that it doesn't really do everything i want it to anymore...
