I'd never heard of him :o

What a nutter!

"I observed the tightrope 'dancer'—because you couldn't call him a 'walker'—approximately halfway between the two towers. And upon seeing us he started to smile and laugh and he started going into a dancing routine on the high wire....And when he got to the building we asked him to get off the high wire but instead he turned around and ran back out into the middle....He was bouncing up and down. His feet were actually leaving the wire and then he would resettle back on the wire again....Unbelievable really....[E]verybody was spellbound in the watching of it."

so its a film of a man on a wire??

kind of defeats the purpose if he's not going to maybe fall off doesn't it?

really enjoyed this, read his book about it as well loads of times (i recommend anyone who enjoyed the film watches it, its really good and you get much more of a sense of build up as it details the years and years of planning that went into it, as long as all the funny little anecdotes from planning) - he seems like a really cool guy, full of energy and that, what a legend!!

Been meaning to buy this on DVD for ages and then caught the last half on TV last night by accident. Amazing. Fucking amazing.

Funny seeing this topic, I was just watching it again and reading more about it day before yesterday. It's great, I really enjoyed it. I wish I could witness something like that one day, it clearly affected those people in the interviews, even to this day.

 Thought maybe it was a sequel to "Man on Fire" with Denzel? That one was pretty decent from what I remember.

Sick film, and the actual walk at the end is one of sickest things i've ever seen.
But the guy is clearly insane.

Watched this a while ago, really like it but found it really annoying and a bit of a anti climax with there being no footage at the end walking between the two towers, the pictures looked good and went with Gymnopedie no1 really well but some footage would of been nice. Did they prepare all that shit and forget a video camera? Also the guy is a arrogant fuck, fame is no excuse to screw your missus over who has stuck by you for all that time, apparently all his friends from back then have nothing to do with him anymore. Suppose you gotta be that arrogant to do something like that.
