Myspace can be a right arse at times. You'll have to leave it for a while and they should start playing.

Think Hanta Virus is good, but needs a bit more variation in the bassline - seems a bit high in the mix too, or it doesn't quite gel properly.

Really liking Fallen Soldier, really nasty 8 bit dirt with those electro style synths (reminds me a bit of Bambata) - think the arrangement doesn't quite hold together well enough, but with a bit of work I'm sure it'll come good. Very original sound though so that's a good thing.

Not mad keen on the other two - the synths sound like straight out of the box presets to me. They're OK musically, but the sounds need some work.
Hmm....

yeah, i was abit concerned about the sharpness of the mix. im trying to listen to them on as many different setups by as many different folks, trying to get a general consensus on what improvements would help. your chest!

im feelin the hanta virus. i love those epic verbed out sawpad sounds and the arpeggios. a little more punch {120-140khz} in the bass kick might bring it out in the mix more. big left coast propz to ya, black plague. aj

hanta virus - reverb on the kick ain't my thing. bass notes overlap, sound a bit muddy. not keen on the notes being played either. over powering, and i don't think it goes with the track. stuff going on in the background is more interesting though. your snare needs more meat IMO.

Fallen soldier - again too much reverb imo, makes for a muddy mix. again the synth is overpowering when it comes in, and it clashes a lot with the rest of the track.

vision of the higher - see what you were trying to do here, but its all so so muddy. i think there needs to be clear definition between sub, bass, mid, and hi. in this track, a lot of what is happening is sub bass and mid.

blood orgy - MUDDY! your kick has too much sub and its clashing with the synth and its sub. again i dont think the synth fits the track at all. some nice melodies going on in the background though

none of these tracks got my head nodding or anything like that. perhaps try some more interesting drum patterns, to add more groove and funk. oh yeh...and i really don't like the "about black plague" section on your myspace

lotsa lotsa verb on the tracks (fallen soldier especially). i'd say cut it down a little bit. doesn't need to be drenching everything.

hanta virus - feelin that....where are the sawpads from?

yeah, mans using a new plugin but it doesnt seem to translate well into the mixes. i think im gonna go back and use the apple matrix reverb that ive used on older songs-at least i can control which frequencies are effected. also, i usually bounce my drum patternts to aiff but i think i'll seperate more parts of the drum. this way i can keep the kick drums dry. i thank all of you for your time and comments....your chest!

what you might try is setting the verb up as a send or on another mix channel. set it to 100% wet, then you can control the level with a real fader.

i do that on a lot of my stuff, where i'll have diff verbs set up and route say my snare & hats to 1, a vocal sample to a 2nd etc.......you can follow up with an EQ plugin too. i usually highpass the verb so it doesn't sound muddy.....from 200hz anywhere to 500 depending on the sound.

don't know what plug you're using but if you can, check out the 2 reverb plugs from AudioDamage - i use 'deverb' on a lot of shit, and its easy to control...sounds good.

they just came out with a new one too i don't have yet - reverence. i hear it's really good too, and both of em are cheap.

i too, put my reverb at 100% wet on my sends. Its nice for a number of reasons, least of which is that it saves precious processing power. Havent had a chance to check the tracks yet, but ill check em out and let you know. Oh, and ive never heard of reverb on a kick working... like ever. Id imagine it would just muddy up the mix.

yes folks,
thanks to everyone supporting the black plague sound, big up for all the technical help and hold tight everyone thats dissing. i like haters because you keep me motivated. you may notice some of the titles are the same but i have gone back and reworked the angles. there are also two new songs on the page. i have checked and the songs are playing through the myspace player. i know the stream kept failing last time i loaded new music.
