justice

Post by ponte_ricky » Fri Aug 07, 2009 10:58 am

hey, ive been trying to work out what it is justice do in their live sets. i saw em at leeds fest last year and it was just a huge mish mash of all their songs. i dont suppose anyone knows how they go about doing that? do they just have load of cue points and loops all set up in ableton and just mash em up?

any info would be great, its just something that ive wanted to know for ages now

pretty much widely accepted that that picture was an accident (there was another picture with the cable plugged in)

It's all just ableton-driven with a few added live synth bits on top, theyll have song split into seperate stems and loops from the those stems so they can construct and remix on the fly.

heres a photo for you

Equipment used by Justice in their productions include an Apogee Ensemble Recording Interface; a Power Mac G5 computer; their Korg RADIAS, MicroKORG, and Cubase and other software sequencers. Their live setup includes a Korg RADIAS, three JazzMutant Lemur Input Devices, two MacBook Pro's running Ableton Live, a Korg MicroKorg, an AKAI MPD24, a Korg ZERO8 and a Pioneer DJM800. On each side of "Valentine" (a non-functional modular synthesizer prop) are nine stacked Marshall cabinet fronts, adding up to a total of 18.The cabinet stacks are another nonfunctional prop that serve as stage dressing. Their DJ setup previously included two Pioneer CDJ-1000MK3's and a Pioneer DJM800. but since the A Cross The Universe release tour, Justice have been using Ableton Live controlled by an AKAI MPD24 and a Pioneer DJM800 for their DJ sets

Got to agree with Mico tho. They are bell ends. Im mean using Marshall cabinets as props? Ooooh how rock and roll are they!!!

its been discussed to death, and a little bit in their thread...

they do have a real live setup and that was most likely an accident. I will give them the benefit of the doubt, because they can't be that stupid for the quality of their productions

exactly, if he's doing that for anything more than 45 secs then that's ridiculous. even 45 seconds is too long, as far as I'm concerned.

but its not a 45 second vid, its a still frame so we will never know for sure.
