Ben UFO: you're definitely right about the change at FWD since its been on a friday.

One of the (many) things i like about dubstep has been the lack of drugs, and no i don't count draw as a drug, but thats a whole new thread...

Something that really puts me off DnB raving is the amount of gurning wastemen who either insist on jumping all over my shoes or spilling my drink, and then rather than buying me a new one think that i'll be satisfied with a massive grin, some chewing and a "SORRY MATE!!!! HOW ARE YOU??? FUCKING GREAT IN HERE INNIT!!!!" before they bounce off. Wankers.
Dubstep raves really suit me, cos you can just find a dark corner and vibe, if you want to meditate etc then cool, if you want to shake a leg thats fine. I find with DnB, esp @ Fabric main room, that if you're not up for a sweaty mosh you needn't bother.
Having said that, if i can find a space i do love a DnB rave

The smaller amount of coke also benefits the atmosphere, imo. Less aggression, which is all part of the dubstep ethos. However, i remember being dissapointed when I was stood in FWD literally right behind a popular DJ/Producer when he passed a wrap to his mate, who had a sniff right then and there, in the middle of the dancefloor. Perhaps I was only dissapointed cos of my youthful naiviety, but I thought that was what the seating bit behind the decks was for...

You know, fair enough there might be a group of guys who skank their way through the entire first two sets or something, this i can just about understand. Its when you get people who are still not only standing, but going nuts by the time the lights turn on that i begin to wonder what kind of helping hand they had in this ^ ^

I only toke/drink at dubstep gigs, and by the end my feet are aching something chronic etc. And i pace myself as it is!
so everyone else takes drugs cos you're too PUSSY to last?

Guiness Foreign Extra is way heavier than the horse.

Less addictive though cos it tastes like sweaty socks. (I've never actually tasted sweaty socks before you start.)

I don't really know where i stand with this, cos on one hand i am young and enjoy the OCCASIONAL hedonistic session, but i usually reserve this for a sweaty dnb night or Breaks night. Simply because if your not raving quite often there is jack shit to do to enjoy yourself at dnb/breaks nights. I've done a couple nights sober and it was bored brainless, but that could be as it was the samey old shit jump up DJ's playing the same tunes again and again. Dubstep events are more for me to enjoy the music, i'll normally get down with some scotch and beers and i'm good, but i am still on the floor 80% of the time. I don't mind people doing drugs at raves, i was at the front of the last dmz and no doubt there were some mash heads along side me but there wasn't no gurnolympics going on.

Also not meant to open a can of beans but ganj certainly is a drug, you deluded stoners!

I used to love smoking weed at raves but apart from that, I've never really done anything. I can count the number of pills I've taken in my entire life on two hands, and all those were taken over a 3 month period years ago, and it's been nearly 7 years since I smoked weed as well.

I never liked drugs, and to be honest I don't need them... I know it's a cliche, but all I need to keep me going is good music and an atmosphere I'm comfortable in. I was one of the last people out of the last 6am rave I went to, despite my advanced years and knee injury lol.

Mind you, I do work a lot of nights, so I'm probably more used to it than some of you lol. :)

Weed and booze you simply can't lose 8)

My class a days are over now, they have been fun, but I think with dubstep I'm truly happy as the music is such a physical force anyway.

The first DMZ I went to in Jan was easily equal to a pill or some shrooms. Sometimes the bass was so heavy I convinced myself that I could see the molecules in the air vibrating before my eyes...and with shit like that happening I need some herb and guinness to bring me down a notch or two.

I like seeing pillheads at raves they are more often than not the comedy factor, which is always needed on a good night out.

Anyways, it's a big ol, free ol world and people should be allowed to do as they see fit as long as they don't endanger others (or themselves).

anyhow, just beers for me when im out. score a pill or two mabey once or twice a year and save them for a special occasion with the girly and close friends for a behind doors-at home occasion. :D

all dnb heads look like:
Image

nah, i think not. don't know about UK, but here in Holland, maybe 1 on 20-30 is doing pills on dnbraves (as far is i know)
about 70-80 % doing marihuana.

on dubstepraves:
there aren't that many yet, but i haven't seen anything likely to clue harddrug-use.
but the spliff is going strong, same % as dnb i think (the dubstep public around here is for aroung 70% also dnb)

the discussion about what drug is bad and what not is endless...

I like the fact that I can have a good session skanking or noddin at a dubstep night and I'll be on the floor 75% of the evening with nothing to aid me but a few beers. Last Dubpressure was a bit crowded and I did knock a young lady's drink over, but I just smiled and bought her another. Best vibes I've seen in a club in a long while.

Don't really touch drugs any more and to be honest, I don't really miss it either - I've done everything I wanted to (and some I'd rather not) and I'm retired from that scene now.
Hmm....
