why do they all use the same bass ?
tbh it happens in every genre (amens in jungle for example). I suppose it really depends on if you personally are into the particular formula that gets rinsed that determines how tolerable you'll find it.
personally i wasn't attracted to dubstep by that distorted guitary sound or basslines that sound like they were composed by joey deacon and weird al yankovich on a casio, but that's just me

you dont have to dig that hard...tacospheros wrote:i fucking totally agree with original poster . you guys are being pricks for no reason it seems
i think everyone is just butthurt because your "genre" is starting to sound "generic" , so whenever some noob calls it out , everyone shits their pants
inb4 flaming . i fully realize that you have to dig hard to find good stuff, but that doesnt mean homeboy isnt right in saying most of the stuff coming out all sounds the same .... . obviously the influx of all these threads is happening for a reason
i think if anyone put a bit of effort into looking for tunes they'd realise that its not getting generic, its diversifying, at an exciting rate.
did you ever listen to Robb Booths show Electronic Explorations? Check it out at http://electronicexplorations.org/. The show at the top of the list features Clubroot, a US producer worth checking out.
This is evidence that boundaries are being pushed. Whilst some of the mixes and tunes on some of these shows are generic to certain extent, alot of it is going in different directions.
Goddamn, thats why I love dubstep (and its associated offpsring) so much, because so many different artists have interpreted it and done something interesting with it.
Just listen to the James Blake mix on Electronic Explorations. This is a very talented artist with his own vocal-led take on the genre.
Mount Kimbie anyone? Not strictly dubstep,(who am i to say?) but you could throw it into a dubstep set easily.
Listen to any tune (search them on youtube) made by Untold, Ramadanman, Pangaea, Appliblim, Joker, TRG, to name a select few, all of these are doing mad shit without wobble or generic sounds.
This kind of crap reminds me of when I used to be into metal and people complained of everrything sounding the same, well they obviously were too lazy to find good music themselves. You cant expect decent tunes to be handed to you on a plate!

Would be surprised if no one else has already said but you prob mean Brutal Electro.Dastree wrote:i wonder each time i check out new releases i hear exactly the same bass sound on every record.
that is why i don´t buy any of them it is just too boring.
could some of the so called heads tell me why?
Either that or over produced basslines like you would hear in dnB.
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.
sub bass is a fundermental part of dubstep
why complain about 90% of people using it haha
complain about the 10% of people who ain't.
oh wait, you're on about wobble aint you?

yer not lookin hard enough, thers crazy shit coming out nowadays on loads of different labels...
There is always gona be the stuff that sounds the same but like someone said, that happens with every genre.
You obviously haven't looked very hard otherwise you would notice that dubstep in fact is probably the most open genre atm influence wise and experimentation wise.
Check out Luke Envoy l, L Wiz, Komonazmuk, L-ow, Krio, Ruckspin, Vex'd, Milanese etc etc. and think about how many different sounds are just within these artists...

nah sorry bro , i actually am happy with all of the beautiful music ive found in the last 3 years. i dont listen to angry chainsaw halfstep, i like martyn and 2562, ikonika, neil landstrumm the most , but i dont have to prove that to you .
you guys literally just unwittingly proved my point, by jumping down my throat for agreeing with OP. so yeah. theres 2 of you literally calling me out in this thread jut for agreeing with him

Havent read the previous posts... gonna just say my 2 cents
Well... you cant really do much different stuff with bass.... eventually... you gotta have....bass... so that might sound the same in most artist's tracks...
But all the other things like synths, percs, hihats, etc you name it.... should be different if one wishes it... both sound- & buildupwise
Ive made both rough and deep mellow tracks and people have told me that they somehow know that i've built this... so there's plenty of ways to build your own "image" if you will...
But yah...eventually everything becomes generic one way or another... this is where your image comes to play... to differ you from all those "newbies who copy"
peace

Bass by nature is quite similar to itself. It contants little harmonics, usually just a sine wave.

Do some fucking research, if you don't like it what you hear find stuff you do like, there's plenty of alternative stuff out there!
perfection!
imho theres so much out there for dubstep, that if your listening to the same "bass sound" in every track, then your missing the rest of the music.....bass does play a part, but the percussion and world instruments are what really make the dub....step.
imho if you can only hear the wobble.....your missing something
also
alot of wankers have been putting out shitty sounds that I would not consider dubstep...more like a 140 1/2 time drum loop with no feeling to it....and a blank wobble with no depth or immersion.

tbh one sound that is doin my nut right now is that hollow distortion guitar sound from meta-lick and some new benga bits. it tore up the dance with a couple distance and skream tunes, but give it a fuckin rest, has no soul and tires quickly. in my opinion distgusting bass sounds have had their day, its all about finding new grooves and percussion.
if you want to turn the dance into a heavy metal gig then yous all goin the right way about it.
