In their solo careers as DJ’s and Producers, Hyphen & SFR have established themselves as some of the best electronic talents South Africa has to offer.

Between the two, they have worldwide 12″” vinyl releases on four different high profile UK based record labels.
SFR having recently signed his first Dubstep 12″” single to XS Dubz, putting him down as the first South African to be signed within the Genre.

The two have recently teamed up as DJ’s showcasing a completely original and fresh approach to Dubstep which so far hase proven extremely successful.

so tell me, how far is the sound spreading down there? taken some time or it's easy getting heads to peep dubstep?

Its doing very well here.

Most people who have got into it come from a drum 'n bass background, such as myself.

Dubstep is mainly centered around Cape Town, as is most sort of "urban electronic music". It has also spread to Johannesburg, and there are a few followers in the smaller towns too.

There is also quite a bit on the go in Joburg, There is a Montly launching this weekend called Dubmental. Quite a few producers and some guys also doing Live sets like myself... here is a bootleg I did as part of Dub:tactics a live Dubstep act....

Howzit all.

Dubstep is definitely picking up pace in Jozi (Johannesburg). Inishi8 and Science Frikshun have a wikid night called Dubmental... next one on 11 September!

Also featuring at Electronic Music festivals such as Fu-Cha Gathering and Synergy!
