The problem with progressive is it hasn't been flavour of the month since the Bedrock glory days and its hard to get tunes signed never mind them actually selling enough to make the time u put into writing the music worthwhile. I wasted years writing that shit I don't blame Nero for choosing a different path its depressing when u spend 3 months writing a tune and that makes chinstrokers spunk in their pants when they hear it but sells absolutely fuk all!

They can make dark and heavy shit like their 'Shock remix' or their 'Samurai remix'. They can make those lowkey bubblers like 'Something else'. Do a masterpiece like the street's 'blinded by the lights' justice. Make a Booty Luv song heavy. Euphoric style tunes, like 'Sincere remix'. .And just straight up bangers like 'this way'. And yea, then do good DnB to boot. Its not as varied as, say, Skream or someone, and these r just of the top of my head, so I'm probably doing their catalogue an injustice with my examples.

so the only way to make money from dubstep is to write shit template wank
nero must have absolutly no imagination if they cant write a dubstep tune thats different from everything else but will still SELL, especially due to the quality of their production
Reread the post I'm talking about progressive HOUSE/ELECTRO not dubstep - the difference in sales between jumpup/deep in dubstep is a lot smaller than the difference between commercial house/electro and progressive breakbeat.

You really don't have a fucking clue how things work - record labels are run by sheep they want a certain kind of music and it doesn't matter how good the tunes are if its not in the style they want then they won't accept it so its not even up to Nero really - if they wrote something real deep it probably wouldn't be accepted anyway.

its not that surprising. skream's remix sold big. certain handpicked producers and dj's get the acappella and parts early on, months before the album release. this is so the label can have a good range of remixes to pick for the first official single. after that 1st single comes out, and if it did well, don't be surprised when you see a flood of new remixes hit the market. when i used to work at sony, acappellas were leaked on purpose. record companies do it after a certain point in album sales. madonna, britney, and few other big pop stars have done this too. they consider it promotion, and it does help sales a bit. its business. i don't know if this is the case with this la roux tune, but nothing surprises me about how these things happen.

I don't get why people slate Nero so hard... are you pissed because they're on fire right now and making insanely popular music? Are you trying to be 'anti-establishment' by going against what the popular sounds are?

These guys have made some seriously top quality tunes in the past year and over their entire production career. They came out on FIRE last year though with quality tune after quality tune. Not pissing at others about their opinions, but it's starting to seem like as soon as someone says Nero people start jumping up to say negative shit. If you don't like it, you don't have to talk on it. You could save that energy put into the negativity and put into something positive for yourself.

I'm a big fan of dan and joe's work for the best part, their work in dubstep that is - but if they done something deep and it was good then it would defiantly be welcomed with open arms by most,

Speaking to dan their full dubstep album they are putting together it sounds VERY promising and im sure their will be some deep bits on there, but the sheer amount of generic remixs they have done recently will be good for promotion but it obviously causes a bit of backlash from 'heads'.......

Tbh this la roux remix is alright, its one of nero's better remixs - and i sincerely am looking forward to the album - lets hope they do something a bit different with it :)

They're keeping whats on the album top secret but apparently there is some deep tunes on there, I'm looking forward to hearing it. What I'm saying is that when a big label asks them to remix a pop single thats not what they're looking for, they just want something in the usual style of that producer. They're keeping their deep stuff for the album but playing it safe with the big profile remixes, lots of these remixes need to be done very quickly as well (label can give you as little as 7-10 days to do them sometimes) so its not practical to write deep music which can often take much longer to write and probably won't be appreciated by the label anyway.
