Karnival is a new clubnight from the Ruffnek Diskotek crew, which will take place on the first Saturday of every month at The Tube in Bristol. The night is aimed at being a showcase for the fast emerging crossover sounds of UK Funky, Bashment, Dancehall, House and Soca & the influence they are having on electronic dance music at the moment.
After our successful showcase of the Karnival sound at the Glade Festival this summer, we are looking forward to bringing the vibes to Bristol’s club scene. Dancing, flag waving, waist winding & horn blowing will be positively encouraged! We want to see bumpers moving inside the club!
For our launch party on Saturday September 5th, we have invited our good friend, Mr Benn down to Karnival. Mr Benn is a hugely popular local producer & Dj who had worked with top dancehall artists such as Blackout JA, Blak Twang, Ricky Rankin & The Ragga Twins and is the brains behind many massively popular remixes such as the infamous mashup of ODB’s ‘Shimmy Shimmy Ya’ and The Specials ‘Message To You Rudy’. He is working on an album at the moment so this’ll be a great chance to hear some exclusives from that, plus choice cuts from his superb dancehall & hip hop collection and no doubt plenty of killer remixes.
Further support on the night comes from the Karnival residents; Dub Boy, Atki2 & Stylatron bringing pure waist winding vibes.
