hmmm......

wondering why these 4 were selected over more prolific producer/djs.
MJ Cole - fair enuff he's been doing sum sik things with the soca-house beat.
Matt Jam - ummm seeing as he refuses to play sets other than the odd radio one on Hype he is an odd inclusion.
Zed Bias - been making dubstep no? wudnt mind hearing sum of his new Garage, but i get the feeling they will be chatting about his Funky.
Heartless Crew - hmm well :?

there are deffo other people i would like to have seen that are actually pushing GARAGE and not Funky or Dubstep. But I guess something is better than nothing.

MJ Cole has got the PR men pushing him hasn't he?

I loved him back in the day no doubt but he was nowhere for ages and now he's out and about making a bit of funky and getting some big DJ gigs from nowhere. a good example surely of the PR game in action.

MJ and Zed both have new albums droppin on a garage/funky house tip (not on the cheesey side tho obviously!)

(New Zed beat that Benji B has been playing is overly sick).

Maybe because these are the original guys from the garage scene? Even if they are old and not doing shit any more lol.

zed bias wasn't original garage. he came around when it got a bit breakier in 99ish. his name has got big as somehow being an influence on dubstep, again not really convinced. good producer and all but not original garage - unlike matt jam.

I don't know much about garage, so I've only heard of MJ Cole and Zed Bias out of the four, looking forward to hearing some new stuff from these two.

this is the issue i have
its like ok so if you wanna do a "Garage Greats" show, then get Grant Nelson, Todd Edwards and the like.
If your gonna do a show about "New Garage" and its return to our clubs and ears, then why not have the people that put the effort in to get it there?

The line up also suggests that we wont actually hear much garage at all, rather mainly soca-house (funky) and probably a few old skool tunes.

hey

y'know what..
it's August Bank Holiday and we're just having a bit of fun..

nobody said it was a 'definitive story of garage'

it's 4 live sets back-to-back from incredible DJs that i respect enormously, who are available to make the pilgrimage to Radio1 at 2am on a Tuesday morning to do throw this down live with me..

if you're not in this.. don't listen..

for those that are.. we're filming it for YouTube too..

m/a.. x

fair play to mary anne for the response.

I won't hear it live but will look it out after and look forward to seeing what goes down.

a bit of an old skool ukg "lets have a laugh" is all good :D
as long as its portrayed like that when we listen.
If its old skool selections into funky stuff then a bit of a chat about how funky is the new garage etc etc then
i am quite willing to wait and see tho
