When is it worth getting your tunes mastered?
Because i've got two tunes I made which I want to put into a mix im doing, but obviously it isnt really as loud as the other tunes so it sounds like a bit of an ugly duck in the mix with all the others, what do you guys do?
Do you do your own mastering job or send it to an ME?

ahhh ok, i just wasnt sure, because i didnt wanna make it sound like gash compared to tune B kinda thing and wasnt sure what other people did, but now i know its all good thanks!Depone wrote:well...
Personally, i would just wack your best limiter on the end of the chain just to get the levels around the same (dont push too hard tho). But be carefull as theres such a thing as a gain control![]()
Also, i personally will only get things mastered when i know they are being released or sending out to radio stations. I do a bit of self mastering myself and the mixes sound good enough to send to most people in the industry.

Doesnt have to be hard limited as i said above, just turn it up on the mixer.

If it sounds muddy before being mastered it will sound muddy after mastering. Mastering is just a polish, it wont fix problems in your mixdown.
Out Now:

SET003 - Bob Marley - Is This Love (remix) 12"

Seems kinda pointless to me to get 2 tracks mastered just to put in a mix, but its your money
