@ boomnoise don't be so stingy - s'a great tune and u know it. joe nice is right - you just really want to hate on him, no?
hey i'm anything but stingy! i take it back if i'm going to get called stingy. if only you knew about my geordie 'rock your body' karaoke.rachel wrote:@ boomnoise don't be so stingy - s'a great tune and u know it. joe nice is right - you just really want to hate on him, no?i do too, actually, but really he's not that hateable - more of a (dissensus steal) little wigga teddy. and he does make some boom tunes...
people hate on pop in general don't they. i mean it's a rather simplistic reaction to have to music which you're supposed to be too cool for school for but at the end of the day pop music is just bloody great music. (i mean some, not all)

im not sure man... i just got Last Exit by Junior Boys, and i would say that while the percussion (and maybe vocals) on My Love are definately inferior, the arpeggiated synth gets me in a very different way to any of that album... but obviously spine-tingle is a subjective thing!boomnoise wrote:i like my love i just can't help hearing it as a rehashed junior boys track but with dented gloss and far less spine tingling shimmer.
the album is absolutely amazing though, its rare that music which ive read such high praise of meets expectations, but this is certainly one such circumstance. really incredible. have you heard this album before?...

lacking the itching rhythms (its mainly based around a straight 120ish bpm disco stomp), and the vocals, but similarly brilliant in terms of its other-worldly, disco-inflected, synthesised aesthetic
highly recommended
yeah love the old metro area stuff. i'd be a bit cautious of the more recent bits though, especially remixes.elgato wrote:im not sure man... i just got Last Exit by Junior Boys, and i would say that while the percussion (and maybe vocals) on My Love are definately inferior, the arpeggiated synth gets me in a very different way to any of that album... but obviously spine-tingle is a subjective thing!boomnoise wrote:i like my love i just can't help hearing it as a rehashed junior boys track but with dented gloss and far less spine tingling shimmer.

I've only heard the two singles ("My Love" / "SexyBack"), but those seem to be driven more by Tim's production over anything that JT is doing. Hell, it could be Lil Jon doing the vocals, and I reckon I'd tap my foot just as much.
I guess it's just a credit to how heavy of a producer Timbaland is. He can polish any turd, and sell it to you as a hamburger.

Sorry I am a bit late with this, but I just checked out the album. There is some heavy synth floating about. I think it is pretty good, imo there are some definate Prince-esque moments on there which is never a bad thing, could be what they were going for during production? I will have to look in to that. Anyone heard, read or thought anything along these lines?
