I think it's made by using a non-tempo-synced LFO going from FAST to mid, on either volume or lpf cutoff freq.

It's a great effect btw, never heard it before! :)

lfo > osc pitch

or enable portamento and overlap notes

at 0.46 in Swagga by Excision & Datsik

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YpAePSP-ni4

and at 0.21 in Culprate - Don't do that

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TNh69jIm6k

is it literally just a pitch bend? Im using massive in FL and it doesn't seem to do a proper pitch bend....
go to voicing in massive, put 'monorotate' on and 'legato thriller', then go to the osc-tab and put the 'time-wheel' a bit up that you see left. sorry for sucky english, but i hope you know what i'm talking about :')

trying to make a kinda huge bass hit sound, a bit like some of the early wiley stuff like 'freeze' or youngstar on 'bongcat riddim' or 'dungeon'. not sure if people will have heard these tunes so also more recently untold frequently uses the kinda sound i want, for example on anaconda.
Help would be much appreciated! I use Logic and have massive/albino/a few other free synths

does anyone know how to make a decent reggae keys sound using reason 4? something along the lines of these:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJT52Cu7VNU&feature=fvst << the main off beat rhythm coming in at 7 seconds

www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVOOpLv-pSo <<<<the off beat rhythm at 14 seconds

also the quieter, higher keys which play the off beat rhythm at 26 seconds.

Is it really on some next level shit or somethang? Or is just too easy? I know there's a compressed, slightly distorted 909 with some decay in there. But the other half of the sound boggles my mind. White noise with an envelope on the low-pass filter?
Damnit, fine. If no one can help me with the kick, fine. But what about the lead? I get the envelope (it sounds kinda percussive, so a fast attack and decay).

The lead that kicks in at 0:50 and back again at 1:19, basically.

I really need to get decent at designing leads. That's really the only thing still bugging me. o.o

nowaysj wrote:In that case, maybe an initial really quick filtered noise sweep followed by a few pitches quickly swept down at different rates, get an inharmonic kind of whine, followed by a few filtered noise sweeps to make that kind of sigh at the end. All this in about a seconds worth of time, with maybe the noise tail sustaining/fading a bit past a second?
Noways is right, a noise osc & filter will be usefull in achieving the sound you're after.

I'd layer two noise oscillators which will help recreate both the attack portion of the sound and the sustain.

Osc 1 needs to have a super fast attack and decay to give it an almost snare like quality. Pitching it very low will give it more of a 'puh' sound. It y help to have it slightly louder than the sustain portion. This will mask the slow attack of the sustain portion. Possibly low pass filter it, but this depends on what you want.

Osc 2 needs a medium/slow attack which will need to be timed correctly with the attack section on osc 1. Osc 2 needs to be piutched several octaves higher than osc 1 so that it is 'airier'. Possibly bandpass filter it.

Maybe also add some reverb to taste?

Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.
