I agree with Magma. Try a lil bit of pure white noise layered over the snare hits, might bring it out a little more. Also, just an opinion but personally I'd go for a hint more low end on the bass.

not too much to show yet but early critique would be a massive help as this is my first dubstep track
I figured the snare needed to be louder, I tried a boost around 1-3kHz instead of the white noise, I'm not a big fan of white noise on snares ;)

Checked out your track, seems to me your bass volume is way too high, you almost blew up my speakers. Drums are good, they flow nice with the bass, though I couldn't really hear that much with such an overwhelming bass.

@mk.ii: Idk man, your drum sound seems to be abit fucked up (giving cracks, which prolly means you EQ'd something wrong) , and the track sounds like a random mixup from different samples, giving no structure of flow to your song. After 2.30 you seem to be pulling yourself together and make something new out of it, which sounds way better than the intro, but still needs alot of work (again I get the feeling that it's a mixup of samples)

Really like this track and the way the bass mutates throughout the piece. Sorry I can't give more of a critique, don't know enough myself to give sound advice.

Here's a section from my first attempt at a dubstep tune

hey guys, anyone wana take a listen to a track i'm working on right now?
I Just want other peoples opinions to see if it's a "polished turd or not" lol
heres the link to take a listen, theres no eq's or compressors on it at all right now and the drums aren't really sequenced how i want them, but is the bassline bad? and I'm having some trouble with the intro, seriously I've changed it like at least 20 times :/ if anyone has some advice that would be awesome! but seriously, if it sucks in your eyes and you think it's a polished turd, tell me lol

idk to me i think the intro is too slow, and I wana distort the bassline while still trying to keep that heroic-ish feel to it if you know what i mean. :o

Can anyone tell me if they'd dance to this? Samples a Chopin Interlude for the intro. Needs arrangement fixups over-all, but I like it.

This is more of a techno (?) 2-step thing.

Safe guys,

Made a new tune called 'Gumball Drop' with another producer. Bit of a work in progress atm i guess.

Up on the soundcloud and would really appreciate some feedback. Its the first time ive ever worked with anyone on a track and the whole concept and feel of the track is very different to what i normally produce.

I would be really interested to hear what people think as im still undecided on this track at the moment and i realise the mix down isnt great so far.

All feedback is really appreciated! Ill feedback as many as i can.

I dont think thats true at all mate.

The track has a nice mellow vibe. Where are those vocals from? The drums are really nice. Im not sure how much of a fan of of the arp synth i am in the intro. And the kicks maybe shouldnt feature in the intro, seem a bit out of place. I think the introduction of a little sub bass could make it sound a bit fuller. No need to drown it in bass though. Like what youve done with the track.

Would appreciate some feedback on 'Gumball Drop'

Pretty nice track, im not really a fan of the 'metal' kinda noises but i love that little high synth gives it a creepy kind of edge & sounds good the way u evolve that bass. Ide bring the drums out abit more make em louder & clearer
