The beat is tight, the guitar gives it good ambiance. Bass is cool. The ending @ 2:20 might need some attention. The drop @4:40 is nice.

So I was really, really bored tonight and just finished up listening to some Aphex. I was really digging the drop in Windowlicker and I thought I'd try and make a dubstep tune out of it. I havent finished it, its still VERY rough, but any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

the subtle vocal is a nice touch and i really enjoy the organic sounding drums (im a big pangaea fan)... the end of the tune sounds like it should be the breakdown (is this what you meant by half done?) if you plan on keeping the tune this short, maybe add a breakdown similar to this?

id add a few more sweeps in there just for some variation too.

pretty impressive for a second attempt! the bass on those wobbles is a bit weak... try layering your bass? (a low end and high end) maybe add some distortion to make it a little grittier. also, maybe ease up on the wobbles a bit? 3 min of wobbling is alot! how about at the end of every 4 measures you add some sort of unique variation to the drum beat and lay off the wobble? maybe add some more power to the drums as well?

Thanks man ! Yeh that is what i meant by half done, there will be a breakdown where it ends.

I always do the little sweeps and fills after ive got the whole track down.

anyways, loving the track, real HEAvy, maybe a bit of high end leadage, i fucking love my melodies

also maybe a bit more verb on the snares? don't really have a reason but i think it would sound kl

i layer/resample my snares to get them just right and add a little build up before each snare

for example, i'll go through a boatload of 1 hits, stack them on top of each other and add fx (when necessary) so i've got something that sounds really good. then, i'll re-sample it so it is its own new, flattened, wav file.

once i have them in place, i like to add a quick little "pre-snare" sound which is usually something that sounds like a mini sweep or the beginning of a whip sound.

throw that thing right in front of the snare and there ya go.

im a basshead, so i would like to see stronger sub bass to get it moving... though, it doesn't seem like that is what you're trying to accomplish? the guitar is amazingly cool... reminds me of some miami vice type shit. i don't care for the breakdown at 3:13 nor the very end from 4:28 on. change those up, add a little more variation to the drums, a few sweeps and you've got yourself a solid tune.

Valid points - Yeah the breakdown needs soem work just was a bit stuck for ideas how to approach it as well as at 4:28 - at the moment working some getting some of the real drums ive recorded through the last couple of months and layering them with the semi-electronic sound drums adding some background strings and some nice fills! Its sound beefing as farrrk if i say so myself - turned the sub up a bit too (was a bit shrunken in the mix eh?

Try using less wobble and more sounds. Right now it seems like just drums and a wobblebass all the way thru.
For it not to get boring real quick it could really use some more drops and quiet parts.

Listening to the first half had me wondering where are the drums..??
I can't seem to find a rithm in it either. Then when all comes together
the snare hits and there's some more rithm. But you have all kinds of frequencies
clashing together and way to many sounds going on at once. You
know the saying "less is more".. Or if you like this try eq-ing the sounds
to make them fit together.
