Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

i find that its hard to know until I have tride it both ways. when my tune feels to heavy in the bottom end i roll off somwhere around there and it seems to make the tune out nicely. somtimes when i do it my tune lozes something so I get rid of the filter. other times i can't hear any difference at all not reallly sure what the correct thing to do in this situation is so i just leave it.
so yeah don't do anything as uniform have abit of a play and see what sounds best

There's just been some epic thread related to this,
to sum it up,
filtering can affect the integrity of the signal quite far up past the cutoff point, it depends on the source signal, try it both ways, there is no single right way

consult your gp! (mastering engineer)
I find people who are sending me material often ask me this, usually I ask for it uncute, and if it needs cutting and would affect fundamentals of other instruments in the mix (rarely) I get them to chop it at there end.
Sometimes you need that rumble there, sometimes you don't.

I cannot hear anything under 30 at home so I am working with something I cannot hear:/ I did not think many systems could go down that low so it is wise to remove it and hopefully clean the mix up.

I never cut the sub, other sounds it might be a good idea. My ME will cut but leaves it all the way down to 20 I believe. Some ME dont cut it at all.

I guess I will just watch and listen to the levels when cutting to make sure I am not causing problems! cutting the sub can do more harm than good in some cases.

Case by case basis really, also varies with sounds as mentioned..
One thing that should be noted is if you're going to cut, do each sound individually.
