Booking Agencies for Funky DJ's

I'm looking to get gigs outside of Newcastle, got a few tunes in the bag, and a nice selection (mainly from producers on here )

anyone know of any booking agencies that I can contact?

not sure it works like that tbh man

you're only likely to be able to get gigs via agencies if you are pretty big in the game, high profile, making several hundred quid a pop at gigs, headlining nights, etc etc

basically you need to write some tunes that get signed to decent labels if you want a fast track to all that.

Had peoples telling me it was the other way round, like it's never too early to get management on board

Although obv there are people blowing up not from tunes but from recognition from DJ'ing, in which case I suppose the best thing to do is to keep at the local residency angle.

Not too many people in Newcastle into Funky, suppose I should see it as an opportunity more than anything.

Bring 50 people and you can play at every party I do. In reality very few djs can bring 50 peeps .... at best you're talking max 10/15.

Don't think its depressing. What's depressing is when a dj plays and brings no one.

Yes, I'll put on the people I want to play but equally you have to be practical as a promoter too.

I mean names barely have a draw of 50 people so the reality is a dj who can bring a lot of heads is a rare bread.

yeah, as a promoter i can see why that would be a bit lame - but as a punter, what's equally lame is going to a night and seeing a rubbish DJ who has got booked because he has a few mates to bring along...

Some promotions I used to be involved with used to put on events In bars and boats, and we never had anything less that 100 people turning up, Facebook is your marketing friend. On the 4 boat parties I did with them there were 200+ people and on 2 occasions were a few over the boats legal limit, the Gallery at turnmills pretty much sold itself, ok, but we still rammed out our rooms.

Also in total agreement with Fox, It used to frustrate me seeing Djs getting ahead just because they could get more people through the door than I could , why should a dj bring people? hes providing the music, the promoters job is to provide the crowd surely?
