Confused about cables (Connecting amp/mixer to Laptop)

Post by hectikx » Fri Oct 02, 2009 4:42 pm

Hey, I've just acquired a decent pair of 150w speakers, a numark mixer and a technics hifi amp for cheap. Now until I start buying some wax i want to rinse out some tunes on my laptop through my new big speakers, and I'm a little bit stumped about how I go about getting these speakers hooked up to my laptop and it would be sweet if you anyone could point me in the right direction so I can get on eBay and get everything hooked up.

My amp is a 'Stereo Tuner Amplifier'. On the front there is a 'Phones' input. The only outputs/inputs on the back are for where the Hifi speakers are plugged in.

Now the idea I have is that I need a Stereo Jack to 2x RCA Phono Plugs cable to plug the amplifier into the mixer (the stereo jack would go into the 'Phones' input on the front?) and the 2 RCA into the Mixer? Then I'm guessing another phono to aux in order to connect the mixer to the laptop.

.. but i need clarification on this, as I'm really not sure I'm right.

Cheers

You sure the "phones" on the front isn't an output for the headphones? you keep referring to it as an input

Yeah I'd say stereo rca into the back of the amp,

then take the output from the amp to the speakers,

jobs a good un

Yeah I get confused to what is actually an output or an input. Your right yeah, pretty sure it's output. I'm not sure there is the inputs on the back of the amp for RCA.

To make things easier, here is the amplifier in question:

looks like youre missing the reciever. that fat cable would plug into it, and audio inputs go into reciever. phones on the front is an output

Been said before but If I were you I'd start looking for an amp

or..... you could get a transmitter for your mixer, then tune in to it from the tuner/amp

your call
