Buying a sub...

Post by antics » Sun Oct 04, 2009 10:59 am

Whats a reasonable active sub gonna cost me? (couldn't find anything about subs in the bible)

I'm not really looking for a particularly flat sound, Volume is more important, just want it for listening...

Am i gonna get anything for £50

Don't get an m-audio sub. They're junk.

If you can, get it to fit your monitors...

I wouldn't bother with a sub:) I think it will only distract you in the long run as you will spend bare time trying to get all this massive power out of your sub and forget about other important factors. Get some good monitors that go low and put your time into being creative and writing a hook! The just stick a clean sine wave under your track where you want it!
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

I was watching a sub on ebay a couple of months ago and it went for a pound.. it was in my home town as well imagine how vexed i was.

So yes, cheap 2nd hand subs are out there.. you've just gotta keep your eyes peeled.

I must be the biggest Subway fan in the world. At the moment - it's all about Steak and peppered cheese... If you haven't tried it yet, go there... It's like a Burger King without the gut rot and heartburn that follows!

i have a krk rp10, and like it alot. i've actually managed to put it in my car and now my car is really where i compare my bass and tracks to others. a sub is so much fun to have, and a great way to show a tune to a client or someone, and a great way to see how your tune is proably go'n to hit on a bigger system. I never had it on all the time tho when it was in the studio, and you definitely can get away with not having one. However if you feel like spend'n the money you're definitely not go'n to regret it, bass is what electronic music is about.

the M-Audio BX10 is actually a very nice sub. only down fall, the feet the thing stand on suck and break very easy
