i dont think people are being negative about the track. people are just negatively aprehensive of the product.

personally i think pharell is one of the most over rated producters going. he is no where near the likes of dre etc etc in the hip hop world.

his beats are pop gimmicks, simple enough.

does anyone recall when there was that kid from canada suing them for stealing his beats..and then i think they paid him some hush hush, but im not sure entirely.

and i got major respect for skream and benga, and love their music, but saying they are two of the best producers the uk has to offer is a little bit much. with all due respect, they might be major weights in dubstep, but in terms of the whole music scene....

i hope this track is fucking fire. i like nothing more than getting a good track, so hope it comes out a fucking treat.

I think if they take this from the right angle, such as making it grimey as fucking hell (pharrell's production on Lord Willin' by clipse) I thik it will be amazing, but if Pharrel puts his N.E.R.D. style to it, it won't sound good at all..

Just my opinion.

I'm definitely keeping my ear to the ground on this one though.

Does one need to have a 320 in front of them to have an opinion on the likelihood that something will be shit?

Number of Pharrell tunes that I have liked? < 3
Number of Benga tunes that I have liked? < 3
Number of Skream tunes that I have liked? ~ 10-15

So the combined number of tunes made by all producers, including collabs with each other etc... compare that with the number of those tunes that I didn't think were garbage they made...

what are the odds of me liking this?

Not good. Assuming that Skream does his absolute best, there's still close to a 70% chance of Benga or Pharrell making something absolutely garbage. Can Skream carry their dead weight? Will this release be just clicks and whistles and someone saying "GRIIIIIIINDING" every few bars?

Doesn't matter tbh, people will claim to like it either way.

Name the last track Pharrell was a part of that he didn't put some random noise coming out his body on and I'll name the last Bad Boy release that didn't have a P Diddy cameo on it or him dancing in a video... should take both of us the rest of the day racking both of our heads on that one. Fair play to you, I'm not actually critical of you for taking the opportunity. Go get yours.

I'm actually just a bit leery of people who only want to exploit the sound for a short time and then jump to the next bandwagon. My issue is when people say "this will be good for Dubstep."

It won't be. It'll be good for the 2 guys involved. You think working with Pharrell will bring more work for the rest of Dubstep, a bigger following or that people outside of this small little circle will care that much, I just think you're mistaken. It's a huge step in the career of 2 individuals. Congrats to them, but it's a bit like watching someone else win the lottery then isn't it?
