True selection is the key. Also seen jokes of an act (2 of them, 1 laptop, 1 traktor/virtual dj/numark cue) and they still managed to fuck it up, obviously cos their beatgrids were well out.

Watching someone use vinyl/DVS/CDJs is alot more interesting for a crowd tho, and you dont get mugs ripping youtube or myspace, piecing a set together and thinking they're hot shit like people with a cracked copy of virtual dj do.

I laughed too, but it's true.

You'd be surprised how many kids don't know when to press play at the right time.

I think we have the same thoughts though.

I'd agree that JUST using a laptop is boring. That's why I use a 4 channel DJ mixer in my setup.

Why waste your time doing some computerbullshitmixing when you have these beautiful vinyl decks right next to you? Suit up and do something!

Why does Neil Peart play the drums when he has a microphone, 2 strats and a rack of bass guitars he could be using?

Oh yea... that's why.

If you're using Ableton to just mix tracks, yea... but if you use it to deconstruct and produce on the fly, it's > than anything IMO.

My Behringer BCD3000 has survived 2 years of gigs, flights etc and general abuse and still works fine. Its now the hub of a live PA I've got together and working a treat.
