question on sound cards
hi.... im buying a midi controller and tracktor scratch and i wondered if my standard laptop sound will work or will it blow it up. should i need 2 buy an external sound card and what is a cheap but decent sound card 2 buy?
Re: question on sound cards
If it's integrated, then most likely. Unless it has MIDI, you will need to also purchase a MIDI USB interface to use the controller, unless it works through USB or you have a gameport.
For laptops check out the EMU 0404USB or 0202 for starters, but I dunno your budget. They are good for the price though. Might also want to look into NI Audio Kontrol, it also comes with some very nice freebies, but it's about double the price. Worth it though.

Re: question on sound cards
If your getting tractor scratch I would recommend the audio 2 or 4 dj from NI.
The built in audio from your laptop (assuming it is not a mac) will work, but probably give you latency issues. Your definitely better off with an interface. But at least you can fart around without the interface till you find something that will suite your needs.
