dubstep is alive and healthy in Australia.
A large number of talented producers/DJs, humble promoters, and dedicated punters.
I do think dubstep is starting to become a bit mainstream, but that's just because it's been around for a handful of years now. There's always going to be lesser known producers making the more innovative music, and it takes longer for those styles to catch on to the masses.

The dubstep that the papers and people were getting hyped up about a couple of years ago is gone, the music has changed and is blowing up in a big way. Its influence is becoming wider and it will be huge its just not what people think it is (mostly). I mean the name doesn't even really make sense anymore...

There is still a lot of good stuff about though, loads of exciting tunes/artists, just not enough coming out .

no way its dead, theres far more releases which means that there is bound to be more stuff hat people dont like but there are just as many banging tunes and artists around as there were five years ago.
its just elitists being pricks, they think that just because more than 50 people listen to the music its gone "commercial" and isnt cool anymore. there worse than the people they say "jump on the bandwagon"

Here, on the opposite side of the globe from where it was birthed some 5-6 years ago, dubstep is still in its infancy.

Its not dead, but like DNB its probably just lost its credibility with the misguided "scene kids" who listen to whatever shit pitchfork tell them to.. but there will still be a big audience for it easily, fuck what everyone else thinks - DNB is in a better shape now than it was 10 years ago imho and Dubstep will continue to get better too as the real scene grows
