one of the first record must have been around 1964. will check it out!
about soundsystem i'm not completely sure, but i guess it started quite early... with the first soundclashes and the competion, the talkover and toastings came...
so defintly early-mid 60s. will check this out for you too...

King Tubby = Godfather, of everyone, everything! Man was responsible too for the actual soundsystem layout I mean the scoops for bass horns for highs etc. how important is this?? And then the music, oh my god, indeed RIP The JS Bach of our times, like many which knew him personally say, you'll be missed Tubby and there won't ever be someone like you again

guys... you are forgetting all the other heroes.. without sir coxsone/duke reid and all the other early soundsystems - no tubby soundsystem!

i love the legacy he has left beind him but unfortunately have a poor knowledge of his actual music.
could you guys recommend me shitloads of his stuff to correct this problem?

though i have to correct my post and add that tubby started somewhere around 58/9 with his first soundsystem...

not sure but i think the first talkover ON a record was 1964 or 65. damn i forgott that guys name. think it has been released on island.

Basically the DUB ECHOES documentary is all based around his majesty tubby, I really reccomend it couldnt reccomend it enuff fo real!!!
Then just look for some King Tubby, what matters is the message the legacy, the vision his music carries with and every single tune by him is infused with that, say like Mala
