Avoid any of those CDJ's you posted.

They're like the Fisher Price model of a CDJ. i've had the displeasure of using them and words can't describle how waste they were.

Im going to echo what the majority of people have said. Get some Turntables, mixer, Serato.

People like seeing something different and everyone uses decks these days, nowt wrong with going down a different avenue imo.

If you started with computer DJing on Torq or Traktor and progressed to using the mad looping and effects possible on an Eks Otus (which has far more visual appeal than a technics 1210 i reckon, as well as being able to wave your hands about to control effects) I'd bet the crowd would love it.

If you simply do what every vinyl DJ does but using a computer, obviously that's boring cos the skill and visual appeal is gone.

Dubstep and DNB seem far more loyal to vinyl than other scenes, bet you'd get a very different response if you asked this question on a techno forum.

Just make sure you're buying all your tunes legally!
Wow that's looks fucking great!

How would a midi controller work when mixing a set though? i thought they were only used for producing tracks? Woudn't you be basically making fresh music in front of a crowd

or can you mix with them using software on laptop or something?

Thanks

BUMP

Also if i was to get some CDJ's and a mixer it seems that everyone rates pioneers, so have been looking around and found this -http://www.decks.co.uk/package/Pioneer_ ... M400_40194

Looks like a sweet deal to me. wont be able to afford it until after christmas though :( what other accessories/leads would i also need to get? or has this package got everything i need? (apart from speakers)

any cheaper (yet not crapper) alternatives?

howd you get on with that mixer for vdj mate?
ive been thinking of getting one also when i have the coin.
not sure if i should just get one secondhand or go brand new.
im new to mixing too and cant afford not only tables but stacks of vinyl as well. i have stacks of quality mp3s and a reasonably fast pc so itll do me for now untill i can afford to be a "real" dj.

mate have you looked at Torq Xponent?

If you just want to mess around and play parties its fine. It also gives you a mixer and two "decks" that can be controlled so you can learn to beat match. Its got lovely effects and can be combined with decks and vinyl if you go for a vinyl / digital vinyl setup later on.
