im sure there's a more mainstream company that does it for £60 per year and unlimited releases although the name escapes me now

yes it's £15 per release of up to 12 tracks but if you have more that you wish to release you can email contact@upstartrecords.co.uk and we might be able to sort some sort of deal e.g. £10 per extra release. So you could pay £35 for 3 releases of up to 12 tracks each.

We have a distributing license which enables us to put music on the stores for free. We make our money by the £15 charge. Other sites that offer the same deal as us they just charge loads more.

For example you have to pay £20 per release and with that you will just get itunes UK and then you have to pay an extra £1 for extra domains. Domanis being other countries on itunes and other sites. We offer itunes Worldwide which made up of all the countries included is like 77 stores. we also offer another 62 other stores (listed above). For what we offer you could pay:

£20 per release
+
£1 per domain we offer 140.

so it should cost £160

But we will do all that for just £15

I think they just mean they don't tax you anything - obviously the site that sells your music will wont the usual cut (eg. Beatport keep 40%)

What you sell is up to the label and the artist to promote themselves, the Distributor has no interest in whether or not you sell, so long as you pay them the fee. You are your own salesman, just like with any vinyl distribution or digital distribution deal.

You will definitely make 15gbp if the release is even REMOTELY good and break even, I can tell you that. I've personally done it with a release that I now know was pretty shit. Live and learn lol. That was on 1 site, so yea it's possible. 100% royalties is also great.

Sounds good but you're gonna have to have some examples of releases you've distributed or people might not take you seriously.

hopefully what set records explained will help a lot of you understand what we do. Basically other companies charge more because they can. No one else as far as i know will do what we do for as cheap unless you sign to an actual label! Also whats good is that if you do get a label or you find a better deal that what we offer just send us a message and we'll take you off free of charge!

The only money we make is that £15 sign up fee!
