Simon Posford (half of Shpongle) is possibly the best producer on the planet, proper next level genius stuff. He's worked with Alan Parsons & David Gilmour on a rather wonderful track, pretty much defined psytrance in the mid 90s under the moniker 'Hallucinogen', and he's in another group called Younger Brother.

See:
Alan Parsons + Shpongle + David Gilmour

Younger Brother

Who says all psytrance is badly produced, eh?

Seminal chillout/psychedelic album. It's the Skream! of the psychedelic and ambient world, big crossover business.

Funny, I've been getting into the Hallucinogen stuff lately too. Not all of it's my cuppa, but one song in particular - "Spiritual Antiseptic (Minty Fresh Confidence mix)" - has had me totally in awe at the production.

And oh yeah - my dad found out about Shpongle before I did, and he's almost 60.

Shpongle? Damn fucking right, this is where its at!

I'd have to agree, I think Simon Posford is one of the best producers there is and not a bad bass player either. Buy everything that you can find that's made by Simon Posford, you don't even have to listen to it because its bound to be really good.

I first came accross him when he was in a band called Purple Om, when he lived in a caravan in a field in Dorset. Purple Om released a record called "Armageddon" in about 1993 which he remixed in 1999, but the 1993 version was the best. Simon 'Exodus' Scott had three copies of this 1993 record and wore every one of them out because he played them so much. I can't find a copy of 1993 version on You Tube, but I think that this is the 1999 dub remix:
