Will Dubstep Ever Actaully Sound Like Real Music?
very good question - I've asked it myself numerous times. Kaliyuga is a good example how dubstep can function as a form of music not only within the genre boundaries. though, instances like this are making a very small percent taking into account the overwhelming average dubstep productions, which indeed sound like compilation of loops rather than a solid one-piece organic music.

and i'm surprised by the stubborn approach to maintain the dubstep in the-same-old-2006-sound frame, rather than putting it on the next level. yet, again - this is what you get when majority tries hard to produce tunes that merely fit the dubstep criteria, instead of trying to create the form of art known as *MUSIC*
"f*ck dubstep. It's played almost exclusively by self indulgent wannabe losers"

amen

Love the genre for what it is, and where it's going or tune out. If ya want "real music" I hear that your local music store is having a sale On Def leopard CD's. :B: :N:

@OP, nice sounding track there, cool.
A bit of a silly question though. Do you think your track sounds like real music?

the dubstep i listen to i love because it is so un-musical. i love that. i think - however mindless - it is innovation
like 16bit's chainsaw calligraphy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofS1S_JDLLc

its so far from music thats becomes just an intense and disgusting sonic experience that allows me to completely detach myself from reality and lose myself in sound

Hah this guy must have no social abilities...even on the internet... sad...anyway
I DO like the track... i think its dope... It lacks in the precussion area though... simple beat...nothing that made me want to vibe... It gets a little too busy... i'll probably download it and use it in a set... probably throw it in for fill though. As much of an asshat your making yourself seem, i cant wait to hear another track!

er i like the direction your going but it needs work :D

P.s dont be an asshat

Dude, it's a bit of an uninformed question but I get the feeling you've only been exposed to the standard Dubstep sound. As with DnB and most dance genres Dubstep is turning more into a tempo and arrangement framework which can be adapted to suit almost any style.

As much as I love the b-line wobble and dirty bass of the majority of the tracks played by a lot ds djs I'm personally using what I know about other genres of music to my benefit. Check out my stuff: soundcloud.com/pixl and you'll see what I mean.
