didn't know anything about this guy before, but he obviously has great passion for what he does and is a master of his craft. seemed like a proper character and a well nice guy. some great little stories and comments, 'richie hawtin is the elvis of techno', ha!

interesting from a producing point of view as well, all he does is play with levels, no fancy equipment or anything.

thanks for the heads up that was worth listening to for me. Straight talking nice guy with an interesting tale to tell.

I do love some of those tunes. was cool that jaguar was such a hit but UR still refused to license it to the majors. apparently sony got someone else to remake it tone for tone (with a trance mix on the b), then planned to sell it under a different name, but the resistance of the underground beat them down.

do you think the guys who do the mastering at Transition in Forest Hill are influencing the sound of dubstep in a similar way?

Just discovered this tonight, via Discogs. That guy is deep, and pretty humble considering he has played as much a part in the growth of Detroit techno (and therefore 'Dance' music in general) as the legendary producers themselves. It gives me hope that that the simplest tools, used effectively and in the right hands, have the best result.

"Tresor rang me up and asked how I got my highs so clean." Jokes.

Imagine the TP's, dubs, first pressings and original releases in Ron Murphy's crate... :o

(RIP)
