Could be another one of the Marc Ashken remixes. I know there is more than one.

I thought it sounded a bit skream-ish...starting to see more 4/4s creeping into dubstep

skream made a remix of a techno track by Marc Ashken and hatcha played it in SF. It has a really heavy 4/4 beat.

I love it fwiw.

so that might be what you are looking for.

Yeah, I believe 2 remixes were made by Skream for Roots Dyed Dark. This may be the second.

Uh... you're better off looking at Grime labels like Dump Valve if you want 4 4. I can't think of any 4 4 dubstep tunes apart from a few Mala pieces and the above mentioned Skream ones...

Off topic, but related, something that struck me as I danced away on Friday to the sounds of pinch and youngsta is that some current halftep can be looked at kind of like a screwed (as in DJ Screw) techno/4x4… theres a 4/4 kick pattern, its just at half the speed… theres the same grinding, steady pulse, its just stretched out beyond recognition, so as to allow the rhythmic touches in between more chance to shine. It may just be that I was too lean but I think theres something to it. I also think there are massive links between some of the wonkier tracks pinch was playing and the current minimal techno scene, people like villalobos and luciano, with the intricate, meandering secondary rhythms

As for recommendations for pacier 4x4ish tunes, as said theres not much released/made at all, but check out Roots Died Dark Remix and Acid by Skream, as well as the Mala tracks (Bury The Bwoy, Anti-War Dub etc). Also check the new Milanese on MG77. there are also an increasing number of tracks which bring the energy and pounding vibes of 4x4 but without a kick on every beat… Magnetic Man, Skream and Benga in particular, check the Stella Sessions I reckon
