Blockhead - The Music Scene
Absolutely fantastic album, incredibly well produced. He's gone back to the funky, soulful and loungey ways of Music By Cavelight as opposed to the upbeat streak he had on Uncle Tony's Coloring Book. I'd highly recommend it.
It's the first straight up hip-hop album I've listened through and enjoyed for absolutely ages.
The switchup half way through is lush.

This is really great stuff. Never heard Blockhead before... is it all instrumental like this? No emcee work?

Yeah, he's got 3 other solo albums. He produces the vast majority of Aesop Rock material. He's got a fairly unique style, very clean production compared to alot of lo-fi sampling in most instrumental hip-hop records.oni wrote:This is really great stuff. definitely dig it and I'm a huge AR fa. He was my inspiration for getting into emcee work.

Blockhead and Ninja Tune always bring it.
Will pick this up in the near future.

Music By Cavelight gets much rotation still. I gotta check this new one out. I wasn't into Downtown Science or Uncle Tony's Coloring Book as much.

Aes is like marmite. I love marmite and I love Aes.
Back to the thread, the new album is dope. Wasn't too keen on his last two, but this one makes up for them.
