Post by l que » Mon Nov 16, 2009 12:33 am

Just wondering which pressing companies are making good pressings these days

I heard total vinyl was good, any others?

I've used total a couple of times, but it was not for dubstep so can't comment on that side of it.

The mastering to vinyl they did for us was fine, the quality of vinyl/press was ok, but the actual process was really drawn out. both times its ended up taking 2 months (from making the initial order) to get the finished copies. They were also quite unprofessional. We had to call them up regularly to nag them for our order.

More recently I've used AGRM and they were very professional throughout. The turnaround time was much quicker (under 1 month), and the vinyl was of better quality too. The mastering quality was fairly similar to that of Total.

these guys are a mastering/cutting house, not a pressing plant.

these are distributors, not pressing plants.

Total Vinyl and Vinyl Factory are the ones left in the UK which still press a lot of dubstep, otherwise you have to look overseas. Both of those plants are fine and make a good product, but it's true that they can be veeeeeery slow if you're a small label with a short run pressing. Using a broker such as AGRM will help speed ths process up as they will obviously be a much larger account. Brokers will also be a good bet if you decide to use an overseas plant.

You could try Optimal Media Production in Germany. I think they're the one that do the pressing for Deep Medi.
