Interesting concept but the scuba remix is the the only track on there that captured the Wu-Tang vibe perfectly .

i dont reckon it's all that, hard to make out the lyrics, the bits that i did make out did nothing for me and it's not helped by the beats being so wank!

Exactly.. how could you have listened to it properly and MISSED Meth & RZA's voices...? Unless you didn't listen to it properly and just came online to slate a decent project. At least the crew have put it out there. And at least they can see all their studio hours culminate into something worthwhile.hellfire machina wrote:Method Man,RZA,GZA,Raekwon,Ghostface,UGod etc are all featured on the album, the affiliates are not exactly new to the fold either. I guess it depends on your knowledge of Wu Tang after the first few albums back in the early to mid 90's.

In general it's been received extremely well, which is good enough for me.
Scuba's remix is probably the best cos in my opinion the kid's just got a totally different thing going. The other tracks on the album share pretty much the same sound... I guess Scuba's stands out cos it's markedly different.
How did the Wu react to the release, actually? What's their feedback? Did you get them to spit live over some Dubs at the launch? I think actually the whole Dubstep sound sits really well with the Wu philosophy.

big up for trying something new but I feel this would have been cutting edge about 2 years ago. it sounds kinda dated in my opinion. scubas tune is okay but nothing I would listen to more than once. If I want to listen to Wu Tang they have many classic beats, tunes and albums that dont need to be mixed with anything to sound good.
But I do wanna gove props for trying something different, and I aint hating whatsoever, its just not something I will listen to again.
Peace

U-God has officially endorsed the album and will be present on the tour. There was a video made for Nebulla's & Dore's outstanding 'Love Don't Cost A Thing' which we hope will see light of day! As said before this is an official WU-Tang Release. Onwards and Upwards and on with the next project. Keep ya eyes and ears peeled cause we ain't stoppin here!sanjion wrote:Exactly.. how could you have listened to it properly and MISSED Meth & RZA's voices...? TBH the only track I like on there is the Baobinga & ID remix of "Do It Big"...
Are any sites (except iTunes) selling mp3's in 320 format?

Re: WU TANG MEETS INDIE CULTURE VOL 2:ENTER THE DUBSTEP OUT NOW!
Yeah I have to admit that I'm really disappointed in this. Fair enough if it's your thing; I'm not all that into this kind of dubstep, let alone for an album, and I thought it was kind of an opportunity squandered to bring the Wu Tang vibe into dubstep. Scuba's remix is the only one that sounds like the remixer's even heard Wu Tang's music before (although I know they obviously all have). I dunno, I just feel like you could have put any MCs over these beats, but none of them really tried to make something in the Wu Tang vein. I remember the first time I heard Burial's "Unite," I was like "Wow, it sounds like if RZA made garage," and I guess I was hoping for more of that kind of stuff.
Again, I'm not hating; if you like it, fair play. I'm not having a dig at any of the remixers or the quality of their music, just the direction they decided to take for this project. I just felt like it was a really good opportunity wasted.

I did hear Rza and meths verses, i also heard Pimp c, lord jamar and three 6 mafia. What exactly makes this wu-tang.sanjion wrote:Exactly.. how could you have listened to it properly and MISSED Meth & RZA's voices...? Re: WU TANG MEETS INDIE CULTURE VOL 2:ENTER THE DUBSTEP OUT NOW!
yeah must say i'm not feeling it much aside from the scuba and parson contributions, i don't think many of these tunes would've been signed on their own merit. dissappointing as i'm a big wu (and obviously dubstep) fan. hopefully it plays a role in spreading the sound/influencing people though.
Re: WU TANG MEETS INDIE CULTURE VOL 2:ENTER THE DUBSTEP OUT NOW!
I think Dubstep has more to offer in the crossover but this is a good effort. Would love to hear the same done with proper dark and moody tunes (think Loefah, Headhunter )

scuba's remix is definitely the most hip hopish

Re: WU TANG MEETS INDIE CULTURE VOL 2:ENTER THE DUBSTEP OUT NOW!
surprised about the lack of love for chimpo's tune. i think some real gems in here are being blanketly dismissed.
