Ableton audio routing problem please help me
hey erm my problems with routing the metronome to the headphones only
I'm using ableton live 8 and saffire le interface which has 6 outs im using 1 and 2 as left and right monitors and I've tried plugging my headphones into outs 3,4,5,6 and then routing the cue track to outs 3,4,5,6 but its always coming out the monitors which leads me to think its a problem with my interface
any suggestions?
thanks for reading

Re: Ableton audio routing problem please help me
I could never figure it out myself either, so I devised a workaround.
Simply create a track, find a nice sample that would work well as a metronome (I tend to find that claves or wood blocks are more pleasant than the harsh bleep of Ableton's metronome), and set it to play every 1/4 like a metronome, and stretch it out over a few hundred bars. Route the channel to desired output on your hardware.
Make sure you activate your outputs in preferences, under the audio tab. Then select your external outputs on the track in session view by clicking on the tab under "Audio to" and choosing ext. out. A little tab will appear under that offering all the outputs of your soundcard.
The click track should hopefully only come out of the selected outputs on you soundcard then.

You're on the right track, I think. If you route 'Cue' to the desired output you should hear the metronome in your headphones. (I'm on Ableton 7, btw.) Don't know why it isn't working. I suggest trying Ableton's forums, if you haven't already.

its pretty simple, just for clarification for any other people wandering into this thread:

(sound card not connected so example is in mono)
set the button to cue....
then
just give them different outs....
done.
