Mastering and Pressing - who to use?
Looking to get a tune pressed up.
Who would be suggest to use for mastering and pressing up 300 copies?
Want that vinyl to come out perfect... quiet presses do my nut.
(sorry if this info has already been posted)

Re: Mastering and Pressing - who to use?
for propper vynil I am afraid you are going to need to pay for a pro master.
Why are you getting vynil pressed ? cant you just use digital or cd.
if its for demo / fun and you need a 12" then get a dubplate rather. You can press much fewer than 300. Also any dubious self mastering can be masked by the fact that its a dubplate and by default not top sound.
for dubplates I would recommend http://www.carverycuts.com/dubs/

You wouldn't trust someone based on a typo?vulvavibration wrote: somehow i can't trust someone talking about vinyl without knowing how to write vinyl

Carvery Cuts is good. I've gotten dubs from them before and they do the "everlasting" plates, which hold up better than acetates. Not sure if it still is, but mastering was also included with the price of the cut, which is a pretty good deal. They wouldn't be able to do a large run for you though...just one offs.
For a vinyl run, I'd check out http://www.finyltweek.com/
The last order of 20 or so records I got, the majority of them were cut at that place. All sounded top notch. Must be the new cutter in town or something.

Finyl Tweek isn't the new cutter in town - it's one of the oldest. Shane the Cutter works at/runs the place (formerly Heathmans) and has cut more plates than most of us have had hot dinners!

Re: Mastering and Pressing - who to use?
Used Shane at Finyl Tweek (Heathmans) for nearly 6 years now, top notch cutter

Re: Mastering and Pressing - who to use?
Yeah, after I went to the site I found that out. Last batch of records I got were the first ones I ever saw etched by him, and like I said, pretty much all 20+ of them were by him. It was a shop I never ordered from too though, but seems like he's been busy with the ragga dnb runs.macc wrote:

Listen to your favourite record and check the groove....

Find your favorite sounding record and then find out who mastered/pressed it.whatevertheweather wrote:Looking to get a tune pressed up.

Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.
