They're making quality tunes, both dnb and dubstep, which always go off. Im not a fan of this whole "brostep" thing, but C&S make some of the largest tunes out there, and you all complain on here but when you hear it at a dance I don't see everyone storming off the floor? Your all just trying to gain rep saying that "i'm so deep into the sound, Hyperdub all the way, i'm gunna eat my own shit cause I might be able to taste my amazing underground music taste". Not saying I dont like Hyperdub, its a fucking epic label, but everyone needs to give C&S a break.
I walked out the room when brekage played brostep.

it's not got the right vibe.

Honestly don't see whats so arrogant? And I dont really understand your dig at them being at the forefront of the scene, when technically judging by sales of records, fan base and ticket sales of there shows, i'd say they pretty much are up there, just like Caspa, Rusko, Benga and Skream. Not saying it's completely right that they're up there when theres shit loads more people making more innovative music, but it's pretty much the truth.
they are not at the forefront of the scene

they've not even made that many dubstep tracks

maybe even made more 2-step back in 2003-2004

and it is also about personal preference....what is being at the forefront of the scene exactly anyway?

is rihanna the biggest name in the scene now because shes sold more records and been connected to dubstep?

is it about how many dubs you have?

or is it more about the people driving it from the grass roots level and often making the tunes?
Mate your sig pretty much disproves his point.

imo ticket and record sales dont mean anything if youre not critically acclaimed. and i'm not talking about fucking loaded and the nme. by that rational youre saying that U2 are at the forefront of guitar based music. its the same old argument of people who dont know any better and buy what theyre told is good by zane lowe or whoever.

on the westwood subject, he's bit of hypocrite to call into question anyones credibility, when he's probably one of the biggest fakers out there. playing whats popular and jumping on the band wagon of whatever new act record companies are pushing these days.

I wouldn't have a problem with them if they made decent tunes. It's just really unoriginal, bland music. Eastern jam was big when it came out but they never progressed.

You seem to presume the only reason people don't like them is because of some thing about being "underground". This is bollocks, some people may do that but a lot of people just want more than generic music.

respect for what they've achieved, and what they're gonna achieve.. but i personally, and probably like alot of others just don't like their music too tough.. Running was cool, and Bits.. but yea, it's not what i'd search for on the ipod

and still.. i don't think chase and status should be labelled as just dubstep, then no dubstep heads can moan about the progression they're making and can't moan everytime they step away a little bit from making a dubstep tune.. even tho they ain't made too many anyway..

they're just producers that make music

I've never seen that westwood joker before but on first impression he strikes me as a coked up uncharismatic prick, not really that funny at all. But he definately has the head for radio.

I've yet to listen to more than 2 of these dudes tracks before. one being "Eastern Jam" which isnt as bad as people make it out to be. I dont like it but at the same time I dont hate it (I've heard A LOT worse). cranked on a good system, I'm sure most of you's wiggle to it, and that Rihanna track wasnt too bad aswell. face it their good producers. maybe not amazing song writers but good producers none the less.

dunno if its me but the people and scene I deal with doesn't carry these type of tunes around. which really doesn't make em enough of a problem for me. for the DJ's and kids spinning and producing that sort of stuff, more power to ya. if you dont like the music youre listening to...dont listen to it.

WESTWOOD is just a cornball. he tries these witty lines with all these overhyped rap stars and they shut his ass down real fast. I dont hear no smart talk then. he's a tool, for sure. somebody be this dudes friend

Fuck the critics..... half of them don't listen to the music before they form an opinion of it anyway, they just wait to see what all the other people think is "cool" and jump on board with it.

I'd much rather play to a captive audience of proven supporters of what I do, or of people open to build their own opinion of it. I got time for people who appreciate what I do because I APPRECIATE WHAT I DO.

I'd rather be the person getting slagged off on the forums whilst playing to packed out rooms of happy people than the person who wins producer / dj of the year on here yet nobody has ever seen them live before.

Sorry to sound so bitter but this shit gets on my nerves. I actually like Chase & Status' records, and it's no coincidence that a lot of the public do too.

Just because the critics say something's massive, don't mean that it is. Certain people need to realise that all you read on the forums does not reflect what is actually going on out in the real world. Get yourself to a few dubstep (or electronic) events and see how many people enjoy the music that constantly gets slated on here.

I don't think you can say it's the critics or popularity that make a dj good.

I guess it's all down to opinion. I love music and think it's important to be as creative as possible, encouraging people to listen to as much music as possible and form their own individual love for it. If I played out I would much rather a small dark room of people interested in actually listening to what I was mixing than a massive commercial clubnight which is really just for people to get boozed up to and listen to the tunes they have heard a thousand times before. Nothing wrong with that a lot of the time but diversity is important, as well as is challenging the norms, which is why dubstep is here today (IMO of course)

Most of the stuff people posts on forums is rubbish, inc. this post.

The only person who comes out alright in that vid is Kennard. But they shouldn't really care anyway ..

Wise up is such a big tune, Bits is still one of my favourite tunes (not the one my mate played me with indian vocals but the one the youngsta has) Its like with Pendulum, some people might not like what they do now but they are/ were sick producers depending on opinion. Personally I cant listen to their stuff in my room but on a night out some of their stuff does smash it!!!

C&S are amazing producers, whether u like their tunes or not, they are fuckin well produced. I happen to quite like a fair amout of their DnB and dubstep. I also love DMZ, Hyperdub etc etc... Least C&S do that style a lot better than all the shit copy cat producers jumping on it, dubstep was a lot better when a lot more people had dinstinct styles...

Also most u clowns havent got a clue about westwood and the groudwork he has put in, he may be a wasteman in a lot of ways (not worth going into), but he has done a lot for music in this country which has benefited every dance/black music scene. I am sure dubstep has some influence from work he has done in years gone by somewhere along the line...
