bukezfinezt wrote:i use it too! sometimes peeps tell its for kiddys, its shit and bla bla. the only problem WAS the sound quality but the new versions havent got that problem anymore!

many guys use it as told: skream, benga, numbernine, me and many many more!

its important to get good vst´s and good sample packs to start ur own style.

keep things up! good luck on it man ;)

BuFi

exactly i agree!
FL is great simple to use but yes the stock sound is poor quality
all you need is good sample pack's and vst's
and FL will be great..
i use Fl but though of switching to ableton just for the live section of it
but for now i stick it with FL..

FL under appreicated? ha. People who use it think its the best thing since sliced bread. Although i think its the redheaded step sister of DAW's to date. I thought it was cool 10 years ago, now? theyre soo much better stuff out there.

But i think most software sucks still. And this is someone who used software for 10 years.

Fl can't do some very important things that other daws can do. If you don't know what they are, continue to enjoy fl.

FL is woefully lacking in many departments. As far as I know you cant freeze any of your VST's which means lots of CPU power is required.

Its because of CPU limitations i ditched softies and got me some real hardware. Now i dont need any of the functions of FL. I do all my sequencing on my MPC2000XL, since it still blows away just about any software sequencer of late with MIDI timing.

Sometimes I still want an Atari ST just so i can have graphical editing and the same level of tight timing.

just use fl for the step seq and the slicer and whatever else you are using to make the sounds that you like.

then you want to use another program to do all of your final arrangement/edits. the way that fl would be used to do this takes way too long unless you have been at it for years plus the sound that you get from a program such as logic or ableton is much better.

as with all programs it has its ups and downs. you have to find what works best with your style of writing and go with it. it dosent matter what programs you use as long as you make the dance floor move.

i dont really use VST's that much, i try to avoid them as much as possible. I pretty much was VST free for years up until i got NI Komplete, which was for the most part something i would never buy or upgrade, unless it was for Reaktor, Absynth and FM8. The rest id use hardware.

The MPC2500 and 5000 and maybe the 4k (if I remember correctly) have graphical grid editors, fwiw. The 4k has like 996 or sumptin ppq rez in it's sequencer. 24bit too bro bro.

so as far as bit rate youll never use anything above 24bit. so with that in mind you have to remember that to get the best sound you have to fit inside the math (im not going to get into all of it right here)

and at the end of the day who is gonna give a fuck anyways?
just make your tunes however you like and if the sound floats your boat...there you go.
it doesn't really make a difference as to what you're using, it all depends on the creativity of the person making the shit...
there's about 2 million roads that lead to rome and we're all heading there altho just on a diff route ;)
