Speakers for home use?!
Hello,
I'm basically looking for some nice speakers for home use. I've been into dubstep a lot lately, so are there any pc speakers that would play dubstep relatively well? I mean, like Creative GigaWorks or something similar.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Speakers for home use?!
Some simple rules: a monitoring speaker will try to sound as true as can be. PC speakers, like logitech etc, hype certain frequencies, try to sound as good as possible. You dont want your monitors to sound as good as they can but as true as they can.
That means you'll be spending atleast 800,- for a pair of monitors. (genelec, Focal, ADAM, Dynaudio etc)
If you dont wanna spend that, you can go for a cheaper option, that still try's to be as true as they can (Alesis, M-audio, etc)
generely i'd recommmend reading some info about powered speakers, passive speakers, room treatment. and ask for specific things once you figured out how much you wanna spend, and what you are looking for. I know people who like Rokkit monitors, i find them to be very hyped.... there's alot of different opinions, so always read as many literature about it as you can.
good luck

because this is where most of the technical geeks hang out. why are people asking questions about turntables and beatmatching here and not on the mix forum?thor_beatz wrote:So why post it int he production forum?
Re: Speakers for home use?!
Creative Cambridge Audio would be ideal, satalites and a hefty sub, I can vouch for these being great, have the older white ones and they are for the win.

I don't know about computer speakers... I know some people rock the mini computer speakers with a sub and have good results, but that has never suited me.
I like old school, big ass floor speakers (but I mount them on my desk). I've got some Fisher STV-410s: 10" Woofer, 4" mid, 3" tweeter... I've had em since the late 80's / early 90's.
They sound sweet... and I know 'em better than I know my own name.

I'm with this man, you can pick up fairly decent set of old speakers for under 200 quid.Mad EP wrote:I don't know about computer speakers... I know some people rock the mini computer speakers with a sub and have good results, but that has never suited me.
