Best Hardware Synths For around £400

im looking to buy a hardware synth for around £400.

ive been lookin at jp8000's and various other rolands, mostly modules but was wondering if there were any recomendations.

also if there are any good analog synths to look for that'd be cool.

was lookin at sh101s on ebay a whlie back, them seem to be goin for under £400

I'd have a look at the new Tetra by Dave Smith. Been toying with idea of getting one it's basically a smaller version of the prophet 08 but with added sub oscillators and a feedback osc.

Or for that amount you could get omnisphere which is the absolute nuts in the soft synth realm. Analogue hardware like the sh101 ( i have one btw) are becoming more of a novelty i think there's better sounding soft synths these days.

you could always go down the sound module route and get a JV1080/2080 for about 250/300 and get a cheap but big midi keyboard.

i second the Moog. I have an LP, and it SLAYS! so much bite and punch, more than my modular synth even.

The JP8000 is great for non bass applications, and non analog sounding applications. I use it all the time for its blantant digital sound.

You're not going to get that much vintage for £400.

SH101 could be good, or look at the Dave Smith Mopho (although for me the fact that afaict functionally it works like a monophonic VST that you can only use one instance of is a kind of a deal-breaker - if I'm shelling out for hardware I want knobs and keys and the ability to jam around without using a computer, dammit).

Or just get Synth Squad or Sylenth 1 or Poly-Ana and have a load of cash leftover for something else...

That looks really cool! I was thinking about a mopho but might have to save for that beast.
