wot are the adventages of using live 5 over sx3 just got a copy of it today and carnt see why people are hypeing about it

I use it in conjunction with Reason and it cant be beat for simplicity...

I actually use both. I work first with Live to build a track and I import into SX and finish the song.

For a live shows "Live" can't be beat. I second the Warp Markers repsonse!!!

live absolutley rapes CPU compared to other apps I find.

really? it seems okay for me, but then again, i dont do full arrangements with VSTs in it.

the native effects kick ASS, and their suprisingly easy on cpu i think. Live also has some really killer routing possibilities. check out this video, monolake makes rain with only live's effects.

i absolutely LOVE shit like this! also, since my last post i've been using live more, and i find, like kid logic, that its ease of use cant be matched

yeah, I dont have much problem with cpu load unless I put a huge synth plug in on it somewhere...

I got close to maxing it out without plugs once, but I had close to 20 tracks all with effects, but as soon as I froze a few of the tracks I wasnt working on I got lots of cpu back

thanks for all the replies yeh the warp markers are very good and im also finding it good on cpu the only thing now thats troubling me is how do u open a live instrument wen rewired to sx3

I haven't tried that, although I know that when you run Live in ReWire mode you can't open a VST in Live. The only thing you can you use are wav or mp3 files not instruments.

I dont see the need to rewire live to cubase? Surly use one or the other? or bounce down the shit you do in one to use in the other, personally i use both depending on my mood, but never together...

Have you used Cubase's time stretch? Horrible if you are time-stretching from very fast to very slow or vice-versa. By using Live re-wired into Cubase I can take advantage of Live's timestretching algorithm which is the best on the market.

yeh the time stretch is over heavy rewired but live would of been better if you could use the instruments in cubase wen rewired

Can you go from concept to fulfillment entirely with Live? Do you really need to have another program (ala Cubase) for final arrangements and pre-mastering?

I have been toying with the idea of switching to Live - upgrading my Cubase would cost $199US whereas a new copy of Live is $499 ($599 boxed). If I need to do both it could change my plans.

Anyone? Also, is it worth the extra $100 bucks for the manuals? I assume that and some pretty packaging is what you are paying for...

i do it all, from scratching out the basics right up to pre-mastering in Live.
just get the download. the box and printed manual is nice, but not entirely necessary. and certainly not worth $100.

maybe in live 7 they will intergrate the rewire technology the same way reason did then i could use live, reason and cubase as 1 ..that would be the setup for me
