Tru. At least it's not future garage :|
Now apparently, Future Garage is definitely not supposed to be coined as a genre... It's a 'movement'.

This is a UK thing tho, it does get retarded but I suppose it is inevitable that dubstep as a term will die off and all the fragments keep evolving into something else. I called DNB, jungle long after the meeting of the minds took place to remame the genre. In the US it is a bit different we make up genre names for fun it's kinda tongue in cheek but the UK boys seem to take it serious. It's just music. Who gives a fuck.

Interesting thing is I was listening to everything on Beatport the other night for shits and giggles. You think the subgenre wars get stupid in bass music try listening to minimal and techno and tell me the difference. There is a difference but it's so slight it makes it silly.

Techno is different. Beatport fails at labeling because most of the stuff on the top 10 techno is actually minimal.

Why does the word "brostep" always sound so gay to me? And I mean gay in the derogatory sense, not in the homosexual-synonym sense (i respect homosexuals. if you're at my throat for this one, calm the fuck down). I mean, the originator of the term might as well have called it fagstep, it would have evoked the same images in my mind.

Nothing is less appealing to me than the thought of a 100%-dude dancefloor. I don't dance with guys.

Lets call everything electronica. Dubstep is basically the same as trance.

Would not say that trance is the same as dubstep. Don't get me wrong, but i'm not for unifiing all electronic genres. but i'm against splitting genres whitout need for it! It's stil the same Tempo, it's stil the same principe of subbass whit crazy sounds and the people who are listening it are the same.

You make very good points, but in a way, subgenres to some extent help you find the sound you're looking for. You mentioned Beaport--being able to distinguish crackly Hotflush type tunes from Rusko smashers is well helpful. Bad example perhaps, but the Japanese did that with p0rn: splintered every conceivable thing into describable terms so people can find exactly what they're looking for... it has uses

And we all thank Japan for doing that.

This thread have just turned in a big pit.

For me, am normally into the more deep mellow stuff, but that don't negate the factor some producers technical ability is far outstanding. For example at the moment am listening to "Last Night In Brooklyn (NumberNin6Remix)" and i can not say thing is "brostep" Yes it has a very heavy bassline to it, but he has he trance elements are in there too. Listen into the back of the mix, middle 8, and outro, wonderfull side chaining in the middle 8. The way i see it is, if the wobble or heavy bassline is put into content with the song i have no problem listening to it. However if its just some random wobbles without a content, going C, D,C, D LFO change rate, well to be thats not music in my ears.
A brand new song!

I love that song, I've been humming it all morning even though it's been in my playlist for a couple of weeks!

I'm surprised this genre exsists.

My guess is it's all Rusko related music, or heavily wonkified dubstep. I am not from England, but I know that in the Canadian cities, the bros/frat boys seem to dig wonky dubstep/electro/breaks. Whatever has a wonky bassline to it, it's always "YEEEAHHHH BROOO THAT'S TIGHT SHIT".

Regardless, microgenres are all stupid and pointless anyways.

Im taking my bitrate reduction and extreme fm modulation and going over here, and from now on, your all gonna call it Ketamine-Zombie-Bro-Neck-Diskotech-Psy-Core-Step.

Brostep is a joke, retarded, like someone said, we americans have a nasty habit of saying things like crunkstep, brostep, oldsstep, newstep, chillstep, techstep, shitstep... idfk... its stupid, if its round 140 and has a bitch-slap on the third n some crunchy bass grooves, its dubstep. Not brostep. Not Goosestep. DUBSTEP.
