Drum Pitch Modulation Tips
Alright production forum gang.
Anyone got any good tips on pitch modulation and similar processes. Im trying to get a nice high quality swoosh on a loop similar to a timestretched sound without the digital crunch/loss of clarity. Best example i can find it EDit, EG - <iframe src="/forum/video.php?url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWemXNsSl10" frameborder="0" style="overflow:hidden; height:auto; max-width:540px"></iframe>
Working on it getting better slowly, using ableton mainly, env modulations on pitch and what not, tried that Dblue glitch but sounds so generic. Apparently he uses MAX DSP but there must be a way of getting close to that kind of sound without a programming degree and years on MAX.
Anyone got any links, tuts or what not, would be apreciated.

Re: Drum Pitch Modulation Tips
Reaktor i bet would be perfect actually just need to spend another 6 months routing on it before i attempt anything worth using
Re: Drum Pitch Modulation Tips
as i say, try the time machine setting in kontakt, its basically a granular setting, and its NI so it sounds quite similar to the reaktor granular stuff too. obviously its not as configurable but you have pitch, grain size, amount and speed, which should be more than adequate.

Re: Drum Pitch Modulation Tips
Hrm, I think for this you could go a few ways. There's the way I know in Reason about playing a sample over and over as fast as possible in the DAW sequencer, and automating the start point of the sample. The other way would be to switch DAWs entirely, and move to something tracker based. My favourite is ReNoise, but there are others out there - essentially the interface you get to your samples makes this sort of stuff the cake, I believe.
Generally speaking, I think you could get the effect you want by time stretching anything that does it in a granular way, if I've understood that type of synthesis correctly. Hope this is somewhat helpful, and that I haven't missed the point!
Edit: remembered the name; ReNoise

Re: Drum Pitch Modulation Tips
In FL there is a 'Pogo' option on the sampler, which basically shortens the begining and lengthens the end or vica versa, thats pretty good for making laser ish sounds.
Your best bet is probably gonna be from reversing a sound, try having a short reverb on a snare, then rendering and revesing it, that normally makes a swoooosh type sound.
