writing-wise, whatever. my autoload has 12 slots for synths, 24 audio channels and 12 sends. they rarely all get used.

mix sessions can be as few as 12 tracks or as many as it takes. sky's the limit. If i'm working with vocals then it's not uncommon to have 70-80 channels in arrange, mixed into folders.

as far as auxes go in a mix, i'll usually start with 2 verbs and 2 delays, a bus for drums, and a sidechain bus and go from there.

including FX buss - somewhere between 5 and 9, cos I have all my drums within the one track. If i sampled different bits of drums or used a different program, it could be far more.

My latest has 28, but normally around the 20 mark. Not including automation tracks, as in logic they are 'inside' the MIDI track.

To be fair though, i'm pretty anal about have everything on different channels. Say, the last snare hit before break has a delay, i'll actually move that snare onto it's own channel so i know exactly which hit has the delay.

with just the audio tracks I usually end up with 10-14 or so. 15 tops. I resample everything so by the end of my tune I may have one FX bus tops in addition to all the audio tracks.

Octacon actually has 8 channels and one hidden channel, hence the track name ;-)
