Is NI Massive worth buying? Opinions please

Post by Karma_blitz » Sat Jan 02, 2010 8:04 pm

I downloaded Ni's Massive vsti and anyone that has the cracked version knows after a few times of opening the application it will eventually crash your system and can not be repaired. I already started a few tracks and there unusable with out it. Is it really worth spending about 150pounds on it ? does anyone have any comments on this? thanks

i got it for 99euro in the sale native instruments had in december. i don't know if i'd have bought it otherwise though. it was kind of a spur of the moment thing. all the NI synths were on sale so i thought i'd go with the easiest.

i've been using it for making primarily ambient sounds. tbh though i prefer z3ta+ and circle to it. but i do prefer massive over albino 3, another very popular synth. although granted i've only used the demo for albino a couple of times. it always sounds kind of "samey" if you know what i mean.

More people use Reason. Just sayin'.

Massive is a good synth and affordable, good purchase imo. Just avoid using the brutal electro patch so DZA won't hate on you

comparing Reason and Massive is apples and oranges...

Native Instruments' algorithms are fantastic.... the software is great for both hobbyists and quite in depth for the audionerds

I'd recommend buying Massive... but hold your money to buy Komplete 6
it's a weapon you want in your arsenal.. trust me

lol @ plasticcy sound engine, I can understand emotive language to a certain point but plasticcy? really? It's like when I hear someone say protools sounds 'marbelly'

I like massive, sound good but I did find that even without loading brutal electro the sounds I got out of it were fairly similar.

then again if you're gonna buy a synth as said before you can get good sounds out of it, many people use it including artists releasing some of your favorite records so why not eh?

I was kidding about the plasticy sound. I don't even know what that means, I am with you. I read that on here somewhere tho.

Pretty much any synth out there I'd say, if things are sounding samey, you are not doing it right. Or you are doing the same thing every time and expecting different results. One thing I do is avoid preset arps and internal effects. If anything will make things samey it is that. Albino is again grooving with my mojo but I turn to Massive sometimes. One thing I don't have a problem with on Massive is finding great bass sounds.
