Re: Reason 4 Help
got a few questions
So using reason as a stepping stone and learning the basics. Is the ideal way to go? when beginning.
What big things have you guys gained out of using reason?
How long did it take for you to outgrow?
What program do recommend moving onto?

Re: Reason 4 Help
1. It's great to learn the basics, but it's even better to learn about complex CV routing. It's probably a good piece of software to start with, because it makes you learn alot about hardware (think of wiring)mindcontrol wrote:got a few questions

2. All my musical knowledge, all my electronic knowledge. You'll learn ALOT about routing if you are interested in making extreme sounds. Combinators make insane automation's possible and you have infinite modulation sources. Yes, I said that, infinte.
3. I've had reason for 4-5 years, and I still learn new stuff everyday. I have been wanting to move on to Reaper, but I just don't have the time to learn a whole new DAW.
4. It depends on what you're onto, by the time you're ready to "move on" there will be lots of new software on the market.

It's not like you're going to use Reason for 14 days and download Ableton. Also, don't use Reason because you think you have to. Try out different programs and look for the one that fits you the best. They are all equally good, but Reason is a good jack of all trades, and has everything on one little CD.

Re: Reason 4 Help
Refill is a storage format like ZIP or RAR created by Propellerhead Software specifically for use with Reason. It can be used to store any fill created by Reason, including samples, REX's, instrument and effect patches and Reason song files.
Native Instruments have their own sample/sound patch library format called Kore. These can be purchased on the Native Instruments website and at other music dealerships vending Native Instruments products.
A good source of Kontakt and Battery sound libraries is KVR-Audio.com You can search directly for sample content for these two products using their database search page (top left navbar item).
But one can find many free good quality samples in Refills. I spent two days ripping the samples out of my refill collection, including those from the Reason Factory soundbank.
Now I can use all the great samples and REXs available for Reason directly in Reaper with VST plugs!
Cop the refill unpacker from here ---> http://www.mediafire.com/?j4w3jtwmemt

Re: Reason 4 Help
All you have to do is wire the NNXT to the first note in the redrum.
drop the sample in there.
under where you put the sample.
there are 2 knobs where you can control where you can control where the sample starts and ends.
it will play on the '0' note in the redrum.
ohh and make sure you throw it all in a combinator
to wire the NNXT to the redrum (tab key to go to the other side)
instead of the NNXT going into the mixer, drag that same wire into whateve rnote yu want it to play on in the redum.
hope this helps !

Re: Reason 4 Help
Open NNXT samplr
Load samples in
Map zones chromatically
Set poly to 1
Set pitch bend to 12+ (the higher the quicker u can silence the part)
Set release value of all sample to infinite
Now u can play samples and if u need to start over just ram the pitch wheel up and it speeds thru the end of ur sample
Hope this helps
